In that case my other dream candidate is Chris Klieman. That system they have at NDSU is bad arse. He could POTENTIALLY work out very well. He could also fail, and if you're going cheap, revisit it in a few years.

And I agree they're more likely to go the cheap, young route.

I insulted you a lot in my previous reply... but on this one I agree. He seems like a fine young head coach. You have good eyes to pick him out of the crowd.

Well, I appreciate that, but there was no good eyes in it. I am super impressed with NDSU. They have built a system up there that surpasses even Bama in winning percentage. If someone wants to go cheap hire, go to Division II and hire the guy that wins 95% of his games. Haha

He's a fine head coach, the issue is does he have the ties to the South and Texas that we would need to recruit and win? I mean the fat fu... fudge seemed great when we got him. If he was doing this in the South I'd say break the bank on him.

There is simply no excuse for the juco Oline he's fielded in year five. Special teams play is beyond bad.

Those are both clear indications of what's going on on the hill. I'm hearing that we don't need to pay the buyout because he's already busted the ethics clause. Given that he has his own driver and is legendary on Dickson...that could well prove true.

Stay tuned.

Wally hall said on finebaum IF a change was made long would have to go first. It was all theoretical.

Oh so this is going to come out after all.

It will rank up there with paying $0 of Petrino's 17.5 mil buyout... Different clauses, same results.

Well, that would be fortuitous. Haha

As far as special teams go, if I were Cole Hedlund I would be furious with this staff. Best potential in the entire country coming out of high school. That sucks hard for him.

Offensive line? He shouldn't have hired Dan Enos when he did, if you ask me. I mean, I love Enos, but he failed to account for the fact he didn't have the damn athletes to run his system, and he was running out of time. Bad timing.

Wally Hall is the least connected "reporter" in Arkansas.

He gets the mushroom treatment a lot, fed shite and kept in the dark, he then passes this off as gospel in his editorial column and the PTB get to gauge interest and reaction, he's a pawn at best.

He was easily convinced Pelphrey would get another year because of that "top" recruiting class he had lined up.

Everyone loved the Dykes hire... at first. John L. Smith was an emergency hire. He sucked but you take what you can get in that situation.

You are exactly right. I thought Dykes would be a very good coach and great recruiter. It didn't happen.

Everyone liked John L. Smith as an Assistant. And, most Hog fans thought the team returning in 2012 had a shot at a SEC Championship and had the best staff ever. Folks on message boards were posting their concerns of keeping JLS when the Hogs kicked arse.

As far as the extension and buyout, though Long is the AD, he answers to a few people who had to approve it, and maybe even wanted it.

Another thing. Hog fans have made fun of Wally Hall for years. The invention of "copy and paste" saved his career.

Why not go after Craig Bohl then? He pretty much built it.

Speaking of FCS I think Steve Campbell at UCA might be the best coach in the state. Wouldn't be surprised if someone like Southern Miss came after him in a few years.
