quote:I don't give a shite about divisiveness amongst the rest of this conference. If any program wants to challenge for a spot at the big boys table in this conference, then they need to step the frick up and do something about it.
Does having the so-called "Big Six" around breed divisiveness within our conference?

Weird, why go through all this adding up points and crap? A lot of it doesn't even apply to nearly a third of the league. Ancient history.
Simply do it by winning percentage against each other in the SEC. Simple.
Here's the New Big Six as of the start of this season:
1. Alabama: 377-166-20 (.688)
2. Missouri: 16-8-0 (.667)
3. Tennessee: 325-192-19 (.606)
4. Georgia: 310-203-14 (.588)
5. Florida: 306-214-15 (.572)
6. LSU: 308-214-22 (.566)

Its a stats thing. In 82 seasons of football, a Big 6 member has outright won or shared the SEC title 76 times. Since Ole Miss' last SEC title in 1963, the only non Big 6 member to taste an SEC title was Kentucky in 1976. They shared the title with Georgia that year, but the Bulldogs beat the Wildcats 31-7 in the regular season, and deservedly repped the SEC in the Sugar Bowl.
Now you know.

They awarded it to themselves after the season was over and State had to forfeit games

Vanderbilt had the South's first football stadium, was the South's first football power and was responsible for Alabama's coach of coaches.
They might have struggled for years now and be an easy write off, but it all had to start somewhere.
Have your Big 6. But remember it had to start with 1.

Did Vandy have a stadium before the 1922 stadium? if not, this is not true

The 'Lil Eight has nothing to be ashamed of and should be grateful that they get to exist in the Big Six's orbit. Maybe one day you will get to sit at the adult table in the conference.

Yeah, over recent years I managed to figure it out.
But thanks for the explanation--seriously.
They're impressive numbers.
Again, it's such an esoteric term, I don't know why anyone would be offended by its use.
That's like getting your feathers ruffled that Florida's official state tartan has more red in it than does Texas'.
Apart from anyone in either of those states who happens to give a lick about such things, no one is going to care.
As has has already been said: If someone doesnt like it, their school's team needs to win more.

At least get out national titles correct dumbass

Where do these numbers come from?
Well, it's an ascending point system. Basically, the more important the hardware, the more points you get.
I don't think it should be limited to major selectors for nattys though. That concept obviously shuts out Ole Miss, etc. Also, if bowl appearances are factored in, then Arkansas has more than Auburn. And if bowl wins are factored in, then Ole Miss has more than both Florida and Auburn.
Let's face it, with the Big Six being in the shape that it's currently in (with only Georgia--and LSU, if Fournette stays healthy--playing well), the Big Six should consider expansion. I mean, otherwise right now Auburn sucks, UT and UF are rebuilding, and Bama is on shaky footing. Maybe consider the Mississippi schools, Missouri, and A&M joining the fraternity's pledge class.

Which AP/Coaches Poll/BCS title did UGa win besides 1980?

They had the first stadium in the South built exclusively for football.
Hence first football stadium.

I like the system as a whole, but I think divisional titles should not count.
The other problem is that division titles only exist from 1992-present, so there is too much of an emphasis on the more recent seasons.
For instance, if Team A wins the SEC Title this year, they will get 3 points (1 for winning the division and 2 for winning the SEC). But if Team B won the SEC Title in 1991, they only get 2 points because there were no divisions.
So you are essentially saying that SEC Titles won from 1992 to present are worth 33% more value than SEC Titles won prior to 1992.
It throws off the entire system.

I propose the Big 6 be rechristened the Big 1+5.
