Fair enough, but analytically speaking we will need to assess moving to a Big 7 if TN doesn't beat someone in the next couple decades.

What if Fulmer up to? Think he could come back and coach and Butch just recruit.

How about this:

The winner of the SEC championship game in Atlanta gets awarded the conference championship for that year and goes on to the playoffs. If that team should win the playoffs, they will be awarded the national championship.

Each team's fan base will keep track of all conference and national championships and said fans will lord their championships over fans of teams with fewer championships, and sit quietly while those with more lord it over them.

That way there's no 'Big 6', just a bunch of teams playing for championships.

We can cross that bridge when we get to it.

Fulmer never had a problem recruiting, I think he'll eventually come back as the AD.

Not since we've been in this conference. It's only been Bama. But how nice of you to include yourself.

There are high school seniors that have never seen A&M football be the best team in a conference.
Since that last aggie conf title lsu has 4 sec titles,5 sec west titles, 2 national titles, and 3 nation title game appearances.

Know your place bitch.

Come on dude... The old coach as AD era ended with Dooley, Osborne, Broyles etc...

It's a CEO/Corporate position now, not a place to park a beloved coach...

I have no idea but how many former successful coaches out there are Power 5 AD's currently??

Florida, you know the school with as many wins in Atlanta as LSU and Bama... Combined.

LSU has 10 wins in Atlanta. Florida only has 6.

I propose that a compromise around this be reached based off of a theoretical point system. In other words, if a team wins an SEC division title, they are awarded 1 point, an SEC title is 2 points, and a major-selector natty is 3 points. The compromise could be that if a team scores 20 points or more in any combination of the above, then they would still have worthy enough accomplishments to be allowed to join. For comparative purposes, under this point system, the Big Six currently ranks as follows:

Based on this A&M could win back to back to back national titles and would not be Big 6.

No.
Apart from the teams who actually choose to identify themselves as such, no one knows who the "Big Six" are, nor do they care.
I know I'd never heard the phrase before Texas A&M University joined the SEC; and it wasn't until I spent any time on tSECr that I even saw it.
In terms of "breeding divisiveness," I doubt anyone affiliated with our university's athletic department has much (any?) knowledge of the term, much less given it a single thought.

Hmmm...SEC headquarters does. They essentially originated the term

I'm not saying it's not a term some people use; it's just not something with which anyone other than the biggest of SEC football diehards is familiar.

You would be wrong! As NYC stated it was the SEC headquarters that came up with it

I was thinking this when I saw the list. Bama is one of the great programs in all of college football, along with Ohio State, USC, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Nebraska. Maybe Miami but they are too new money to be on that list, even with 5 titles.

So, there is a Big Red One, and then there is the Group of 5, and then there is the Bottom 8.
