it never really existed. It was just great shite to chant to a fanbase of another conference while you're beating them.

So Bama, one of the main contributors to the allure of the SEC strength, is the reason the allegiance is falling apart?

Yes. I think all the rational people on here can agree its all bama's fault.

Really? The unity of the fans made the SEC what it is?

I still like the SEC to represent itself well OOC (unfortunately UF has done a poor job of that the past couple opportunities) but I definitely won't be cheering for Bama to win if the make the national championship again this year. 4 out of 5 is obnoxious.

I'll marry my cousin and yellow out "Roll Tide" from the steps outside of my rusty double wide if it keeps Oscar Meyer from winning a title.

Well, let's see ESPN begging for the rematch. Saban blowing everyone for a rematch. But the actual killer was the fact that several coaches sold their integrity down the river to vote Okie State down.

I am not an SEC fan.

I am an Auburn grad, fan, etc
My interest in other SEC games is strictly entertainment.

It does not make Auburn better or worse for any SEC team to win or lose any game in which Auburn is not a participant.

That being said, I do enjoy watching other SEC games like UGA-LSU, Bama-aTm, etc and so forth and so on

It's one of those empty sayings that is tossed around. Totally meaningless. shite like "College football needs a strong Notre Dame/Tennessee/Nebraska, etc" - even though college football exploded to unseen levels while none of those teams mattered.

But seriously I think it's because back then we were proving that the SEC was head and shoulders over all the other conferences. Now that is just common knowledge.

Pretty much. Prior to our current run, we had 1 title from 1999 - 2005 (LSU in '03). No one would believe the SEC when we said that we were getting knocked out by our own conference games.

Now, we've won the past 7 titles, and in the 6 vs non-SEC competition, we've won by an average of 34-18. Only one game has been within single digits (Auburn 22, Oregon 19), but we've also done the following:

Shut down the "greatest offenses":
Oregon, 2010, 19 points
Oklahoma, 2008, 14 points

Scored plenty against the "greatest defenses":
Notre Dame, 2012, 42 points
Texas, 2009, 37 points
Ohio State, 2006, 41 points
Ohio State, 2007, 38 points

Beaten the PAC-10, Big 10, and Big 12 champs

Won despite being the "lower ranked" team in 4 of the 6 contests (2006-2008, 2012)

It would not surprise me if the SEC itself is getting a little "SEC Fatigue".

The chants and how we all backed each other up is what got the attention of people. Do you honestly believe every team in the SEC was a powerhouse? Hell no. But when you have a coach from Bama, LSU, Fla, talking about how strong Tenn, Vandy, Ole Miss is over and over it gets peoples attention and makes them talk.

This whole "SEC Unity" shite is fricking pathetic. The entire confrence doesn't win championships, its either Bama, LSU, and UT and Auburn that one time. When you see teams like Mississippi State and Vandy chanting "SEC! SEC! SEC!" it makes them look like they are sucking of the teat of other teams and riding the coattails of other's success. I personaly hope that LSU and Auburn get blown out in every bowl game from now until forever. I have a feeling that the feeling is mutual. I say just root for your team, boo your rivals, and laugh at their failures.

^^this...also facebook, twitter, Youtube...now that we are communicating with other fan bases daily, you start to really hate the other teams just because of their fan base, just by the stuff they say/post on here...it was a lot better when I didn't know or spoke to a georgia/lsu/ut fan I would pull for that team just because they were in the SEC, but now some fans make me never want to see those teams win a game.

The bottom line is I am for AU. I guess if it helps AU I am ok with whatever that result is, but I am not shedding a tear if Oregon or Stanford beat another SEC school.
