It's bad when being identified as "Mississippi" isn't racist enough to satisfy your fan base.

I was young back then....but I seem to remember us being pissed at first and then turning it around as confirmation that we ARE the flagship university of Mississippi.

and then Merlins comes in and completely contradicts Jackie.

Are y'all really satisfied with having a "best ever" HC that has never won anything?

We had some nasty players under Sherrill that didn't get the big game jitters, that's for sure.

Sherrill beat LSU more than once. We also went 5-5 vs Auburn in the 90's, so no domination there.

he was 2-11 against LSU. he beat a 3-8 LSU team by way an awful call and a 5-6 LSU team. I wouldn't exactly give Sherrill a lot of credit for that

Sherrill could not beat LSU...no matter how good or bad LSU was that season or how good or bad State was. LSU always got the best of Sherrill.

In '98 when the Bulldogs won the West and went 6-2 in the SEC and LSU went 2-6...the Tigers completely blasted the Dogs 41-6. Was always amazing to watch those games and wonder how in the world is LSU playing like this?

in fairness that was a VERY talented lsu team with the worst defensive coach i've ever seen. lsu was a preseason #6 team in the country. was stacked with nfl players. lsu lost 7 of their games up until the last one by a combined 31 points. it was maddening as a fan
Georgia 28-27
@ Florida 22-10 (lead at the half)
Kentucky 39-36 (lost on game winning FG)
@ Ole Miss 37-31 (OT)
Alabama 22-16 (led whole game, ALabama got onside kick and Shaun Alexander happened again)
@ Notre Dame 39-36 (missed like 3 or more extra points)

There has historically been a massive talent gap. And the record shows it. I think our talent level is as close as it has been to the SEC powers as it ever has been.

That's new.
