For the most part Alabama does sell out. We have a long waiting list of people, wanting to get them. Problem is there are a bunch of yuppy kids that are going to school there, that thinks they are too good to sit in the upper decks to watch the game. And for whatever reason the University will not take some of those student tickets and sell them to the people on the waiting list...

Hah, gotta start somewhere I suppose. This argument gives me tired head when fan bases start arguing over sellout streaks etc.

This is true -- well said. Bama could fill the stadium every time. On their current roll, that is.

At least you guys will be able to beat Kentucky if they get lucky enough to draw one of them.

Something you couldn't do when you "won" a national title. LOL

Our coach may be known for riding a great QB to a title but yours is known for being a hydrocephalatic clown.

As for the OP it's hard for me as an Auburn fan to say.

The product we have put on the field the last two seasons makes the cost of attending a game for my family not even close to being worth it. But if we start playing entertaining football again I don't know if I would start justifying spending that kind of money again. Probably fall somewhere in between and maybe go to 3-4 a year as opposed to the 1 or 2 I've gone to the last couple of years or the 8-9 I went to for several years before that.

maybe the money has gotten too much for some people. i love where LSU's program is but no way in hell would i pay the money they ask for to go to 8 games a year every year. there is a lot to be said for the way collge football used to be; ya know, before it got more expensive than the nfl.

In reality, it's the fact that Florida is opening with Toledo. Auburn will play Arkansas State and every team has a few "Little Sister for the Deaf and Slow" school on their schedule. That's what stops consecutive sellouts. I think the playoff system will fix that in later years when it expands. Schools will recognize that they don't have to go undefeated to have a shot at the championship. They'll be more inclined to schedule more big games which will increase revenue rather than play a patsy $1 million dollars and watch their seats stay empty for a few Saturdays.
I don't think that is necessarily true. The reason being that in order to play a big time OOC team, you either have to do it as a neutral site game (Atlanta/Houston/Dallas) or else you agree to a home and home series.

Once you do that and lose a home game, you lose a ton of revenue from ticket sales, parking, concessions, etc.

I think that Auburn, for example, still makes money when they play Arky State, even if they have to write ASU a million dollar check and play in front of a stadium with only two thirds of the seats full.

Stadiums are expanding and with the home viewing experience skyrocketing in popularity you are going to see some dips in attendance particularly from out of state fans.

I think more people are finding it more enjoyable to invest in a 70 inch tv, save money in the long run, and not worry with the hassle of going to a game. I still love going to games when i can but the parking and finding a hotel room and driving in and out of gameday traffic can get pretty old.
