Arrowhead is great and really loud. But I do remember one occasion where the Steeler fans were as loud as the Chiefs.mmthey also have a tailgating scene more akin to colleg football.

I will also say that Arrowhead is a stadium opposing fans should avoid more than others, pretty hostile and constant pressure to fight. It's not Oakland, but rough.

I've been to three Chiefs games. The first it was lackluster but not bad for as bad as the team was that year, to even show support was kind of impressive. The other two times have been since their resurgence and it is very impressive. I'm not an NFL guy and wouldn't have even gone if the admission wasn't free (business perk) but it was a lot of fun and the fans bring it. Like others said, everyone is there for the team not half full of grey hairs still riding 70 year old season tickets.

Nothing's Oakland. I thought I was going to die there in a restroom one game. Scary fans.

I've been to Arrowhead. It's louder than the SEC.

CenturyLink Field has a canopy shaped a certain way on the east and west sides to trap sound. We mimicked that with the new Kyle Field and it definitely makes a difference.

Been to Arrowhead, I was at the game where they supposedly set the crowd noise record, it is loud as shite. Arrowhead is a pretty comparable experience to an SEC stadium.

how does arrowhead compare to domed stadiums? I get that it is easier for domed stadiums to get loud, but why aren't they mentioned with arrowhead, Seattle, etc...?

if you're talking about places that blow you away with noise intensity, wouldnt you have to include domed stadiums? Why is the noise at arrowhead always qualified with "loudest outdoor", and not just "loudest"?

Mizzou hasn't been to LSU yet. Please do come down for the game and I promise it's just as loud

Are you serious?

Arrowhead stadium has the world record for loudest crowd roar at 142.2 decibels...a jet engine is 140 decibels at 100 yards.

By comparison, Tennessee's home crowd against Oklahoma was recorded at 114 decibels.

Right team, right stadium, at the right moment I guess. I wonder how that 2003 LSU/UGA last minute catch would measure... but yeah I am serious, that's why I asked. I was misinformed I suppose. I guess I'll have to make a trip there.

120dB is considered the threshold of pain. Arrowhead was over 10x the sound pressure level and 4x the loudness of what is considered painful? 8x as loud as neyland?

LINK

I'm sure a gauge peaked at 142.2dB somewhere, but this seems hard to believe. Was this during a game, or "everyone yell now"?

It was during a game last season but the crowd also knew that Guiness Book of World Records was there to measure noise level

Arrowhead is in no way, shape or form similar to an "SEC experience". It's loud as shite. Borderline deafening.

I've been to arrowhead. Not anywhere close to what I've experienced in Deaf Valley.

I remember seeing a sign that said it was the loudest place in the NFL (something like that) and I thought,"maybe thats an old sign...."

Heck, the two saints games I've been to were much louder.

Loudest Decibel Readings:

Chiefs - 142.2
Seahawks - 137.6
Wash Huskies - 133.6
Clemson - 132.8
LSU - 130
Oregon - 127
Penn St - 122
Florida - 115

quote:

Although places like Texas A&M's Kyle Field and Ohio State's Ohio Stadium might belong on this list, we could find no record of their decibel levels.

140?

In 2007, the noise level in Tiger Stadium was measured at 130 decibels

That was when the stadium held 92,400. Now it seats 102,300.

Don't bring that weak-assed shite in here, we're talking about major SEC stadiums.

Considering they had Guinness world records come and measure sound level last year and they broke the world record with over 140DB its far louder than any college stadium. For comparison TN against OU last weekend hit around 110db. and 140 is roughly 60% louder to the ear.

Wow don't be an idiot. I was at Arrowhead last night for the home opener vs Broncos and its louder than a college stadium by a lot. You have to realize how much of a difference 130-142db is to the ear. Theres no way adding 8k seats to LSUs stadium added 12db at that level of sound. Its kind of like MPH once you get over 150, takes a lot more hp to get to 200mph
