his wife and his daughter,

They are lovely people. Mike DuBose gets a bad rap around here and among many Bama fans, and perhaps rightfully so to an extent, but I've never met anyone who genuinely loved the University as much as him. Nobody was harder on Mike DuBose than Mike DuBose. Great man.

His off the field issues were far worse than his coaching performance. For those issues alone, he earned that bad rap.

He has a more recent SEC title than Tennessee.

That plus Shawn Alexander made up for a lot of coaching deficiencies.
And all-american Chris Samuels.

That was pretty much limited to his affair with his secretary, which he addressed and had moved forward from before the SEC Championship season even began. He had reconciled his marriage and grown a lot spiritually.

I'd say his biggest issues had more to do with people management. His coaching staff was a complete train wreck of people who didn't do their jobs - either because they were incompetent or because they didn't respect him.

Shaun Alexander didn't even have a good game against us in the rematch and y'all still won 34-7.

That game and the opening kick off the next season against UCLA were all Freddie Millons. Then.....

I was including that as part of the off the field issues. That lack of respect not only impacted the coaching staff but probably also played into the runaway boosters situation that culminated with the Means saga.

Dubose simply wasn't ready or qualified for the job. I mean, who hires a career D-line coach to lead a major SEC power? honestly.

and after the colossal failure that "hire one of 'us' even though we know he's the least qualified of the interested candidates and has been a career d-line coach" you would think no other SEC power would ever try something similar.

Glad to see you got over your crying fit from the other day.

Your posts still suck, though.

I was in Biloxi watching that game in a hotel bar and was about to get shitfaced drunk. I'd been mad about that hire for months.

I have never been as convinced that we were going to lose a game than that rematch. Then to dominate was stunning

Baw, you just posted a pic of Dabo also. Do better.

It was also Dabo's first game as a coach.

ETA - my bad. Dabo had been an assistant during Stallings' last season.

Mike Dubose looks like Scott Cochran with a receding hairline.

The most amazing thing is that goofball won an outright SEC title and was a career .500 against LSU and Auburn (2-2 each) and 2-1 against Spurrier coached Florida - but Mississippi State owned his arse.

He was also the first Bama coach to lose to Kentucky in 75 years.
