Nobody kills momentum of drives like this guy, he literally takes points off the board for his teams with bizarre red zone/3rd down calls. He is also a terrible QB developer, he was a D lineman as a player, all the Drew Brees stuff is exactly what we said until we actually saw him a couple years and retard our QB play. Georgia fans, we are not bullshitting you. We are not trolling you. Who are you going to believe, Hog, Vol, and Pitt fans that have really nothing good to say about his coaching, or some national writers with Georgia ties that have not watched this guy coach every down of every week like we have?

What is Chaney's record against AU?
He has not lost to them since he's been at UGA.

Yep.
Forget which games last season...but Arkansas was killing it with the run and Chaney decides to start throwing every down. He does the same thing inside the 10 yard line. Run? Nah, let's pass all 3 downs. Or better yet, let's run a TE reverse! That'll catch them off guard.
LOL
Glad he is at UGA...hope they rotate on our schedule soon, before Chaney is fired.

Auburn game. We went into halftime tied at 21 after running the ball down AU's throat the entire first half. Then Chaney decides to get cute and comes out passing, our offense stalls, we get behind, have to pass more, and end up not scoring another single point for the rest of the game. That game is when I was done with Chaney.
Here is my post from after that game:
quote:
Arkansas' first possession of the second half - we get the ball down 7 on the 25 yards line:
Pass
Pass
Pass
Punt
Arkansas' 2nd possession of the 2nd half, still down by 7, we start moving it but then on 3rd and 4 Collins get tackled in the backfield and we punt. No one blames Chaney for that. If Collins doesn't get us 4 yards there I can live with it. Better than putting it in Allen's hands against the pass rush. The play calls for this second possession were:
Run
Pass
Run
Pass
Run
Arkansas's 3rd possession of the 2nd half - we get the ball down 7 on the 15 yard line:
Run
Interception
So we had 10 plays over these 3 possessions to get our offense established while we were still in the game down by 7, and we don't call 2 runs in a row even though in the first half when we were running over them we called 5 runs in a row at once. Our first possession we don't hand it off once. Our line and backs were not given an opportunity to get themselves established and back into the flow. College football is 90% momentum based, and instead of giving the best part of this team an opportunity to gain momentum, Chaney got cute and walked into AU's trap.

You can say bad things about every offensive coordinator. People still hated Mike BObo when he was at Georgia even when his offense was breaking records because sometimes the playcalls were WTF worthy. The loss to USC 2 years ago and not running Gurley on the 1 yard line being the most recent I can remember. Shotty flat out couldn't score consistently vs anyone so I'll take my chances with Chaney.

whatever helps you sleep at night man
One thing about Arkansas fans with former coaches, we'll tell you how it is.
we warned ole miss fans about nutt, we warned auburn fans about gus, and we're warning georgia about chaney.
that said, georgia hired a great offensive line coach in pittman

Not thrilled with the hire, but let's be honest, he'll beat Auburn. UGA owns the backup school lately.

I'm just shocked by all of this. Shocked that Georgia would hire Chaney and shocked that Pittman would leave. Bielema and the OL went to his house trying to convince him to stay, but he left anyway.
Pittman is the real prize here, because it makes no sense that Smart would go after Enos and then Chaney. He obviously wanted Pittman, and while Pittman is a great OL coach, I'm not sure I'd consider that a good trade-off. Everything Hog fans have said about Chaney is true, although I will say that I think he clashed with Bielema style-wise and so he may work out better at Georgia.
It wasn't just one game where Chaney kept throwing the ball, when the run was working, while the passing game wasn't: every game was like that. Chaney would refuse to run the ball, and in some of the close games we won, Bielema took over the play-calling late. Chaney's passing game isn't bad, but he couldn't develop a QB to run it, so Georgia will need a QB coach for him. His play-calling is amusing, and for the most part, just plain terrible.
We'll be alright, but I'm just disappointed in Pittman. Some Arkansas fans thought he'd leave when Chaney left, because they were supposedly attached at the hip, and I guess that's now been proven true.
