Yes he will. He's a Roman Harper clone. He will be a solid SS in the league.

The most overrated player in the country. Wouldn't take him in the first round whatsoever.

Please, do tell us who a better SS prospect is in this draft cycle.

The description is fairly accurate. Landon is a solid football player and will probably have a solid career. He's an in-the-box safety, and if deployed properly will make a lot of plays. No sour grapes from this LSU fan. He will help Louisiana's per capita NFL stat

Welcome to NFL Philosophy.

I did it. I lived it. I worked in the NFL, although only for a season. I am a former Operations Coordinator for an NFL team. I began as a training camp intern for one team and then interned for the team that eventually hired me. My job was to manage the day-to-day operations of the team. Essentially, my job was to take all of the non-football related duties and handle them so the coaches and personnel department could focus on the football related duties. It’s a lot of work.

Well his opinion seems more legit than these four dummies who all have Collins going in the first round

Unanimous All American and national championship winner Landon Collins? Wish him the best. Incredible ambassador for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide!

Im 43, and have a bad ankle. But if id play safety for Bama I would be an All AMerican too. Doesn't mean id would be a good pro!

@NFLosophy: @JoshLiskiewitz If Collins could have hit 4.40, or even 4.45 at the combine, I'd be more apt to use him in deep CF.

@NFLosophy: @JoshLiskiewitz Problem is that at 4.53 he has to get by on anticipation and instincts and still might show up late to the POA.

Everybody's entitled to their opinion, but this reasoning is pure BS...Ed Reed ran a 4.57 and was one the best safeties in college & NFL history...wonder if these guys think Reed consistently "showed up late to the POA."

I'm by no means saying Collins will be another Reed...just that these analysts who base crap solely on 40-yard dash times are nuts...one of the best CBs in the NFL (Sherman) ran the same time as Collins...and I read somewhere that Jerry Rice never ran below a 4.55. If Collins doesn't make it in the NFL, it won't be because of his 40 time...

Do you think his stock would have been higher at LSU under Chavis? They've had a better track record than Bama with their defensive draft picks on the next level

His coverage skills would be more polished, certainly. Don't know what you can do about his speed though.

He's basically Roman harper. If allowed to play in the box he can find a niche in the league. If forced to cover, ouch.

Roman Harper is actually a perfect comparison.

Is his speed a problem?

It doesn't have to be. If he lands with the right team and works hard that's nothing that can't be overcome by his other talents.

40 yard dash times are really overrated for a lot of positions.

Can't wait for the shitshow here once the Saints draft him.

With the combination oh auburn and LSU fans on here, I no longer had to make an active effort to look up shite about my team as they make sure to let me know what is going on with The Tide. My productivity at work as gone up as a result. Thanks friends

Honestly Collins would be a pretty good outside LB if he could put some more weight on. That's probably where he would have played in Chavis' system. He can def lay the wood

I have no bitterness towards Landon Collins going to Bama. He was a solid player on some good defenses. Wouldn't have got to play much his first 2 years at LSU. He has the tackling ability of an average linebacker with the cover skills of Craig Loston. Wouldn't have been as good as Reid, Taylor, Landry, Steltz... Jamal Adams probably would have taken his spot this year, much like Beckwith took Welter's. Wish him the best though

He is fantastic in run support. But I can't help but place some of the blame of all those deep completions this year on him. I'm not sure why we always blamed the CBs every time. Clinton-Dix swatted those things away on the regular. Collins isn't much of a center fielder type safety, that is for sure. I'd still take him on my team, no doubt! I loved watching him play at Bama. But the Roman Harper comparisons are accurate.. Stylistically at least. He can definitely be better than Harper.
