I agree. A lot of people treat it like a slur (good way to start a fight in a lot of places) but combined it's funny. I have friends from the UK and Australia and they used to use the word count all the time as it's like the word a-hole or douchebag is here (impolite but not really the equivalent of a verbal nuclear warhead). They use it for both men and women in their countries and didn't understand why everyone was calling them out and getting mad over it but they caught on quick that Americans treat it as different from regular cuss words.

2012 has scarred me.

Going to Columbia and the SECCG really changed me as a fan.

Yea, that was rough. Luckily by then I had my douche armor on.

Haha, it's just that American women hate it. That and the best word in the dictionary: moist.

I don't get why moist is so disliked but I don't get a lot of things. With count, I think it's just one of those words that's been reserved for 'special' people for so long it's kinda taken on a far more offensive meaning in the US.

The way moist comes off the tongue just gives it a bad sound. It's almost like I hot whisper in your ear.

count is just a really funny word though

^I could see that. Some words just sound dirty/offensive even though they're not. It's funny how language/dialect and even regional accent can make something sound awful or great.

Identical experience in Columbia in 2012.

I was there in 2008 and didn't have the same issues, but in 2012, Columbia was as uncomfortable, hostile, and dangerous of a place that I've ever been in my life. And I was with other Carolina fans.

Those people have serious fricking issues.

sorority girl

Something about this demographic. Walking down the ramps of the SC-UGA game last year a drunken UGA sorority type girl got all up in my face yelling and screaming before her boyfriend came up and apologized and pulled away. I just shook his hand and said good game. The only time I've personally witnessed an SC fan do something totally uncalled for was last year when a sorority type girl just walked by a Clemson fan and knocked her hat off.

FWIW I hear similar horror stories about Bulldog fans every time we go to Athens, of course you'd have to add in a few "and they barked at us" as well.

What a fricking pussy. You haven't seen a bad fanbase until you've been to Athens wearing the other team's colors.

I stayed until the very end of the 09 SECCG and was pleasantly surprised by most of the Alabama fans.

I went to Athens in 2009 and had a great time. Nobody was overly rude and even got a few invites to tailgates.

Everyone will have a bad experience sometimes. The problem with some people is they exaggerate their bad times. Having a bad experience with one or two bad fans turns into something much bigger.

The only bad experiences I've ever had was @LSU in 2007 and @Florida in 2008, and both were just a few fans here and there.

Oh man that shite sucked. Huge build up to the game for them because they had never beaten Spurrier and we had beaten them like 12 in a row and of course we had just beaten Alabama so we were #10 in the country.

We shite ourselves and they win on the last play and their fans stormed the field. People throwing shite. Had a teenage girl give me the finger and give me the "eat me" sign. The band had to be escorted out by UK police. Old fat rednecks told us they couldn't wait for basketball season to beat us again and then one of the guys threw up after he passed us.
