The game is a 3 hour attraction located somewhere in the day long tailgate for us. I see friends I see no other time in the year at Bama games. I will be old and blue haired, slobbering and not knowing my name when I stop attending an event I wait all year for.
Thats what Sundays are for... bloody mary's and replaying the dvr'ed game on the wide screen.
waking up the house at 8:00 am with a loud Rrrooolll TIDE at kickoff is pretty fun too!
The most wonderful time of the year!

Watching at home is not even comparable to attending Bama games to me.
The atmosphere of an SEC football game is an adrenaline high for me.

More fun and convenient to watch at home on an hdtv, bathroom isn't 5 minutes away, don't have to pay for tickets, don't have to pay for overpriced food, clearly see replays, can actually see what's happening, can actually see what's happening, can actually see what's happening, no annoying people, do I have to go on? Just saying
I would agree....."IF" I was a lazy slug.

Well, this isn't what the schools want to hear- but I couldn't agree more. The older I get, the less desire I have to fight the traffic, the parking issues, my own desire to drink my arse off in public( ), and all of the other things that come with the package. I still catch a home game now & then, and do love a good tailgate. However.....
Anyone who knows me can tell you I get just as intense watching at home- or more likely, at my camp- as I do at Tiger Stadium. We usually have a crowd watching it, anyway. We always have great parking, great seats, great food, NO LINES, and all the cold beer we want right there in front of us. Gameday is Heaven.
Admitting to yourself that you no longer enjoy going to the stadium as much as you did 20 years ago doesn't make you any less of a fan, IMHO.
But I do understand how some folks love actually being part of the antpile. I love the games and never miss a down- but the crowded masses just "ain't my thing anymore".

No way. You can't get a feel for a game on TV like you can from the stands
Posted on 9/9/11 at 9:46 am to itsover9000
AMENNNN.
you can watch all games,
cheap food,
convenient bathroom,
confortable seating and temperature,
and no fat/smelly/obnoxious/drunken idiots.

This probably generally depends on age.
At one point in my life I preferred going to games. However, I now prefer watching from home.
I hate traffic, drunk college kids, people having non-football-related conversations during the game and crowds of people in general.
I like grilling up a pre-game ribeye, having my Maker's Mark over ice and the other options home offers.

i love going to games. some of my favorite memories are being at games or on away game trips with friends and family.
we don't tailgate. we go to walkon's, watch all the games, watch the band come down the hill, go to the game, go home. i like the walking because i need the exercise. it's even fun when it rains.
i really dislike watching fb games live since i don't watch live tv anymore, everything on dvr including fb. i skip through all the commercials, timeouts, injuries, replays, halftime, mindless interviews, inane banter, etc. so, for me, it's a conflict. i watch the game on tv with people and suffer through all the wasted time or, watch by myself which is lame. being at the game is 10 times more fun.

As I've gotten older, I find myself liking the idea of watching games on my couch a lot better. The big games, I'll still go down for. But like this weekend, I'm gonna wake up, start the grill, drink some beer and lay on my couch all day. After commuting 2.5 hours to work and back all week long, the last thing I want to do is drive another 5 hours and sleep on someone's couch for the weekend. My weekends are my time to recharge the batteries.

Both have their advantages. Watching a game on TV is much easier, cheaper and more comfortable. However you miss out on so much. Being at a game is an experience, an event.
I live over 600 miles from Auburn, so I only go to a couple of games a year, but I love getting to town early, seeing what has changed on campus, meeting up with friends, soaking in the atmosphere, watching the eagle fly, being part of an intense crowd and hopefully celebrating a win. Life is busy these days, so even if I lived closer I might not make every game, but I sure as h*ll wish I could go to all of the big ones (prob 4 or 5 a year). You just can't match the excitement at home.

I never said I don't like going to games sometimes, I just said it is overrated. Big difference.

"Fly" Yeah bro, because everybody has the money to fly to a game on top of tickets on top of every other cost. I'm a college student, you should see the money rolling in for me

If schools had massive screens setup all day so I could watch other games it would be a +.

I built a new house a couple years ago with Razorback watch parties in mind. A 119 inch projection screen, total of 226 inches of HD screens in the house, 42" in the outside kitchen, sound throughout, 1.2 miles of Cat-5 cable...a shitload of money. Haven't had one yet; now we go to the games.
