So the argument is that that picture is not supposed to be a full glass building? That it had one side of windows but the rest concrete?

No, all I'm saying is they never showed the other side. i thought it was going to be full glass. Also, if you look closely you can see the lego blocks on top.

I like the expansion, just wtf is that building doing there.

It's not an argument, it's a fact. Turn off your imagination for a second and look at the renderings.

I agree to an extent but since I work in the industry I know it's best to hold judgement until a building is fully complete.

That is what Dan Borne' used to say, from what I heard his new quote is, "It is a pantheon of a downs kids lego set"

I would say you are the one using your imagination. You are expecting the rest of that structure to look dramatically different than what is in that rendering. "The rest of that structure in that rendering is a big block of cement. You are just fooled by the windows on that one side"

I thought it was basically already done? What else are they going to do in 20ish days?

Look, I know the big lego/building with the blank wall and no windows seems unnecessary and unattractive, but where else do you want them to store the dead dreams of opposing teams that play in Tiger Stadium. Do you want LSU to make teams take their dead dreams with them when they leave? That's cruel and unnecessary. Their dreams should be laid to rest in close proximity to where they died in Tiger Stadium. Also, you don't put windows or decorations on a tomb. That would just be tacky. And before a Bama fan says it, I acknowledge that you own us in Tiger Stadium. Leonard Fournette is being taught though how to carefully place dead dreams into the Lego building to preserve dignity of all great teams and their dead dreams.

In all seriousness, I think the inside looks awesome (minus the bathrooms up top, but they'll probably be adding things up there to make things less noticeable). The lego building in question needs some decoration or they can decorate it with a wrecking ball. It's ugly. They could paint a huge mural on that or something and transform it. I'm sure something will be done. Or they could project the game onto that wall and make the biggest screen ever for all the people outside to watch...that would make it look better and more interesting (though I'm saying that without thought to crowd control, etc.).

Can you admit at least that the rendering was/is purposefully deceitful?

I don't think it was the intent to deceive and the original intent may have been to glass the SE wall. I do know that the state now offers "free" money up to a certain percentage of the project total on state jobs for art. Also, LSU (academic buildings) has been pushing for lower maintenance and "green" (:shudders:) buildings. Lately that has meant fewer windows or sunshades on walls that see more direct sunlight.

I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere along the design process it was decided that it would be more beneficial to use this wall as a template for some "free" artwork. This has the added benefit of reducing a lot more area of glass that requires regular cleaning and above a certain amount I think code requires fixed window washing systems. Then there would be bitching about this structure on the top of the lego that is only used once every few months.

It is an avoidable PR nightmare.

They could give the appearance of taking fan input. Allow submissions of potential artwork to be used.

Almost anything would be better than the feeling I have that LSU tried to sweep this view under the rug.

I wouldn't make the assumption that LSU won't do anything about it. Even if they were planning on it, I get the feeling if enough people didn't like it, then it would force their hand to make it more aesthetically pleasing.

id rather this than what we have. I feel like the glass structure would just look much better and wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb.

The rant did force them to try and cover up the stupid pvc pipe that was sticking out on the west side.

Trust me, they pay attention to what's posted on this site.

Would be cool, but there's a process that involves getting the artist on board to make a presentation to the state before the money is even allocated. I'm sure something could be done to work around/with the process via an open "competition".

Again, I don't think this was an attempt to deceive. If anything it was probably a mix of economics and thinking they could do something "cool" with that wall. We'll see what happens, but I don't think we'll have to wait years like the pipe fix took.
