Should be better than last year... but I've said that so many times before. I'd actually be okay with 6-6. The worst thing to me is no improvement and another coach at risk of getting fired.

We won't be as bad as the Aggies will be..

Honestly it’s fair to assume a buffer in between 7-5 and 9-3. I think most teams in the SEC west kind of fall here too. There is a lot of talent, and where there isn’t talent there is added experience. I think if the injury bug doesn’t bite, they could play really well. Yes the team was “rebuilt” but to overlook the talent at certain positions because of that is unfair. Adding transfer portal pieces will certainly help, depending on how fast they gel. I feel like LSU, Ole Miss, State, Arky, and Aggie are all in the same boat where they could be 7-5 to 10-2 depending on injuries, expected performance, etc. Should be a brawl in the SECw will be fun!

I think we are a 9-3 team if the QB play is average. The defense should be similar (more talent/less experience). The OL and skill talent should be improved (Evan Stewart to help out the downfield threat). But, with the importance of QB, our season will be determined by how that goes.

Agreed. Elevated QB play takes us to 10-2, bad QB play drops us to 8-4.

Honestly no clue. We have a tough OOC schedule on paper at this point and the league looks to be strong. We lost key pieces that we’ve supposedly replaced but we won’t know until we watch them line up against some good competition. I don’t think we’re looking at a losing season, just don’t want to be unrealistic.

but the number of SEC coaches to win the conference championship in their second season in the last 20 years is pretty nutty.

There are five such coaches: Nick Saban in 2001, Mark Richt in 2002, Urban Meyer in 2006, Gene Chizik in 2010, and Kirby Smart in 2016.

Lane Kiffin and Leach have already missed their chance. Stoops and Pittman too.

Heuphel and Beamer would have to win it this season, which ain't happening. Same for Harsin. Kelly and Napier are on deck next season.

Auburn:

Defense will be pretty good

Offense is going to struggle with TJ Finley at QB, plus a patchwork collection of receivers.

I think Auburn wins 5-6 games (this is assuming Finley QB1, and based on his prior performance)

We were 8-4 with acknowledged truly terrible QB play last year. Hopefully some improvement in the position has a positive effect on the win record as well.

We will see.

I don't like playing a physical team in our opener as it will soften us up for the rest of the schedule

There's a part of me that wonders how I never heard the terms "Utah" and "physical team" mentioned in the same context before, and there's a part of me that thinks the Gayters have BIGLY problems if this is a concern of theirs given they are in the SEC.

With all due respect, you shouldn't count the Florida game. You just shouldn't. Y'all ran the same play on them time, after time, after time for about fiffy-eleven hundred yards. It's just unfair to count that game.

A stout front seven has been a hallmark of the Utah program under Whittingham. They've had 16 front seven players drafted since Whittingham took over. They've also had a lot of DBs and interior OL drafted too.

They try to bully teams into submission out there and it works.

Biggest false news on the rant. This kid is 6'4" 240 lbs. He had a hamstring injury coming into last year that he aggravated, but he is not brittle. Beginning next Saturday, teams will learn this the hard way.

He also had a torn meniscus that he had in high school which he never had surgery on.

This might be the healthiest he’s ever been playing football.

Thanks but uhhh.... He's been there 17 years. 16 NFL drafts in 17 years would account for why I've never heard Utah and physical team mentioned in the same breath and certainly a big worry if that's your concern about the Utes and you're in the SEC.

Sounds like you've made your mind up despite the evidence to the contrary.

Should be pretty good. Will be disappointed if we don't end up in the playoffs.

Offense should be good, but feel like we have questions at receiver. Feel good about our backs, and having the heisman winner back is nice.

Defense looks to be really good. Will Anderson will be the best player in the country. Should be a great unit.

Special teams should be solid. Need to find a consistent return guy who can make some big plays.

Fully expect to play UGA in Atlanta, which would be fun.

I watch a lot of Western football. They play a physical brand. They're no Georgia or Bama, of course, but they won't play like Tennessee either.

There, I fixed it for you by filling in the blanks. You're welcome.
