You guys have had more consistency at this one position than any other program in the past 8 years. Along with that, Richt will commit to the run and throw waves of backs at you. With Chubb, the best back in the SEC, headlining the unit, I want some opinions on the rest especially the freshman.

sony michel- was 2nd string behind gurley to start 2014. Former 5* out of miami. He's not a bruiser like chubb, he's a lot more fluid and shifty, but he's certainly not a scatback. I'm not saying they're the same of course, but if I had to compare him to someone I'd say carnell williams, style wise.

keith marshall- finally healthy again after his excellent 2012 season where he ran for around 800 yards behind gurley. He's a speed guy all the way. If he has a crease he's gone, but he's not good between the tackles and typically needs a hole rather than creating one for himself.

brendan douglas- backup white guy who can pound it. He's played admirably the last 2 years but shouldn't get significant carries. Is usually good for 3-4 yards a pop.

AJ Turman- redshhirted and has never played. He supposedly looks good though so we're excited to see what he can do. He was the best looking back in the spring game.

I'll post some gifs in a later post.

Sony Michel is currently our number 2 and was actually listed ahead of Chubb on the depth chart last year before blowing out his shoulder against UTk. He was a former 5* recruit out of Miami and is VERY good.

Keith Marshall is our #3 and was a 5* out of NC along with Gurley. He blew out his knee his sophomore year and has struggled to get back to his freshman explosiveness but by all accounts has made huge strides and should see a lot of PT with Michel and Chubb.

Brendan Douglas is our #4. He has been jokingly referred to as "The White Adrian Petersen" by teammates because of how hard nosed a runner he is. His highlight film is actually pretty impressive for being #4 on the list; he has put some nasty licks on UF and USCe players and did a full flip into the endzone against Mizzou last year. Very solid player.

AJ Turman is a former 3/4* kid out of FL that hasn;t seen much PT. However, he is said to be a strong runner. Just hard to see the light of day when you have these guys ahead of you.

Tae Crowder is our lone frashman this year. He's a really tall kid for a RB (similair to Gurley) and there's some talk that he may move out to WR eventually. He wasn't a highly rated kid but we have him on reserve should we have a repeat of the injuries in 2013.

Well it being Georgia, he will run for 1200 yards this season.

This season he probably won't see the field without injuries. Honestly you should see a backfield of Chubb 70pct of carries, Michel 20 pct of carries and Marshall 10pct of carries and in blowouts you will see Douglas/Turman mostly I would imagine.

The only freshman is Tae Crowder. I don't know if he will RS or not, but unless others go down in front of him, I don't think you will see much of him unless in mop up duty.

I think we will see Sony Michel and Nick Chubb/Keith Marshall on the field at the same time because Michel can split out wide easily. He is a fantastic receiver. So is Keith Marshall for that matter.

Because of his speed, I think people don't realize how well Sony Michel runs between the tackles. He is pretty tough as well. He also had a long TD run in the last scrimmage.

That's a good list. Alabama is up there during this time frame as well.

Thanks for posting. I was just about to. Although Ealey and King weren't as the unit before or after them, they were still solid.

Nice. Alabama would counter with:

2008 - Glen Coffee/Mark Ingram
2009 - Mark Ingram/Trent Richardson
2010 - Mark Ingram/Trent Richardson/Eddie Lacy
2011 - Trent Richardson/Eddie Lacy
2012 - Eddie Lacy/TJ Yeldon/Kenyan Drake
2013 - TJ Yeldon/Derrick Henry/Kenyan Drake
2014 - TJ Yeldon/Derrick Henry/Kenyan Drake
2015 - Derrick Henry/Kenyan Drake/Damien Harris (next 5 star up)/Bo Scarbrough (next 5 star up)

Alabama probably gets the edge over us with production in college and the pro's.

As for Auburn, "most conistent" and "most consistently used" are two different things. Just because you have the most yards doesn't mean you're the best. If that were the case then Colt Brennan and Case Keenum would be the best quarterbacks of all-time...

As for LSU...inept passing games for most of the previous 8 years doesn't mean your run game qualifies as the best.

Glad Marshall is back healthy. His straight line speed is silly.

Marshall would be so much better if he had any kind of balance. That really is the difference between good RBs and great RBs after watching Gurley just somehow stay on his feet after various grabs and glancing blows by the defense.
