He's the best coach to not win a national title (well I guess Pete Carroll is ) for the last 15 years. He turned Georgia around in almost no time at all. Hes been close a
Few times, but he took that Georgia job as the sec was becoming a complete conference. It's just so hard to win all the way through...which makes Nick saban's legacy all the more impressive

It's up to UG fans to make the decision on accepting the risk or not. Do they want to continue the way the program is right now and has been for the last 15 or risk making a change. There is risk involved in any decision, whether they keep Richt or gamble on a new coach. The only factor that is definable is his track record. They need to decide if that is good enough to continue or make a change. As a Gator fan, I hope they keep Richt as we know what to expect and to plan for and can expect to win about 2 games out of every 3 years. With a new coach, who knows?

You are 100% correct. While it is possible they could get better results, considering his consistent winning, it is MUCH more likely they get worse.
When a guy has been at one place so long things get stale. I think Georgia fans just want a shiny new toy. If Richt had retired last year and they had a new coach they would be explaining away this year with youth, injuries, lack of QB etc but since they are ready to move on it is justification for firing a consistent winner.
It is what it is. I hope they do it because there is a pretty good chance they wander in the wilderness for awhile if they do.

Wat?
Winning your first Natty in 50 something years is doing much worse?
Do you think the coaching change did that or your administration's willingness to bring in (and pay good money for) a criminal did?
Could Tubs have won with Newton?

What's the risk? Instead of the 4th best team in the SEC they'll drop to the 5th best team?
Georgia is going to always have a talented team because they are going to get their share of talent from Georgia that grew up Bulldogs whether Richt coaches or either of us coaches. That's why it's not the risk that Tennessee took with Fulmer. They didn't have the instate talent Georgia does.
But what it comes down to is, would you rather have Auburn's last ten years of a few great years playing for and/or winning national titles surrounded by awful years, or would you rather have Georgia's last ten years of steady seasons playing for no national titles? I'd rather be playing for titles then just being steady. The right coach with Georgia's talent could be playing for titles every few years imo.

still sore I see

Tubs would never have even recruited Newton, so no.

Serious question. Would Mark Richt, who has said he doesn't want to coach forever, make a good AD even if not at Georgia?

I think any coach that would have trusted to put the ball in his hands in crunch time could have won with that team...but Cam was a very special player.
With that being said....
There are very, very few nearly-sure-thing coaches out there, (saban, meyer, harbaugh) and Georgia isn't getting any of those, but I can certainly see where its time to make a change.

The biggest issue to me is timing. Is this the right time to let Richt go?

Yes Savage, your fluke win this season erases your current record as well as a full decade of embarrassment regarding your AD, his football and basketball hires, their cheating and their results.
You can't go full retard savage. You know the rule!

That 'dumpster fire' beats you more than they lose to you.
Dumb arse..since you have been a dumpster fire starting in 2007, UGA is 6-3 against UT.
Since 2000, we are 11-5
And for the last 116 years you lead the series by 1 game.
Are you really talking trash over a period that starts in 1899. Must have been a power house in those days.

They should fire Richt and then hire Hugh.
Then Ole Miss hires Richt.
Then Ole Miss hires Richt.

I don't understand this line of thinking at all. 9 wins in the East means you're a bad football team, maybe average in some years. Georgia is a team who should be competing for NCs on a regular basis. Underachieving every single year means you have the wrong coach...get rid of him. If it took them a few years to get going again it will STILL be worth it.
Or, keep him.
Or, keep him.

Fluke win? Is that why we lead the series, fluke wins?
You couldn't win by putting our lineman out for the year with dirty play.

I don't know. It could get much worse so it's definitely a huge gamble. Look at Tenneessee the forever burning dumpster fire.

I don't share Savage's opinion on the "ownership" of UGA or Mark Richt. But the only thing flukey about the game in Knoxville was that it was even close.

So you won every other game over a "dunpster fire"?
What is our longest streak over you? It was about 10-11 games in a row I believe?

^^^this is it right here. Any coach we would consider can beat UK, Vandy and Mizzou while getting frog-stomped by Bama and UF. What's the risk?? I see none.

I never claimed we owned them.
I was just pointing out that "dumpster fire" as that moron called us, beat his shitty team and leads the series.
