Honestly, why doesn't Georgia (a program that has actually won a national title) demand more?

Because the school hasn't shown the commitment necessary to demand more of its coach.

He's was Volsessed not 30 minutes ago, he's not Dawgsessed, it's only one troll thread. It's easier to pick on Tennessee on this board than it is to pick on Georgia.

It's possible he has some obsession for Tennessee as well. His Georgia obsession has leaked over to the Atlanta Braves as well though on the MSB. I'm not a psychiatrist so sadly I can't offer him the help he needs. I just hope he doesn't snap and kill his family when the Braves turn it around and the Dawgs have a good year.

It's obvious you've been gone for a little while. He's been at this for over a week now.

Elite programs:

USC
Michigan
Notre Dame
Bama
Texas
Ohio State
Oklahoma

Nebraska has, IMO, fallen out of that list.

Next tier:

Nebraska
Penn State
Tennessee
Georgia
LSU
Florida
FSU
Auburn

after that:

GA Tech
Texas A&M
Miami
VA Tech
Oregon
Wisconsin
Arkansas
Mich State
Clemson
Washington

BUT, to be fair, if Mizzou could pick up a couple of more SECE titles, they could skip into that third tier in a few decades!

if that's true, why has Georgia stuck with Richt for 14 years even though his teams have never competed for a National Championship?

Very interesting.

1) Yesterday that exact line of thinking MADE Missouri a national title competing program since they were one win away from being in the title game ONE season.

2) Using the same line of thinking, it makes UGA NOT a national title competing program.

I think posters of Missouri need to have an emergency meeting to get their talking points straightened out.

My guess is that they've learned a little over the past 15+ years. UGA is generally quite solid, and has made their runs.
Meanwhile, they've watched their primary rivals go through periods of disaster:

Tennessee completely imploded and fell off the map, after running Fulmer out of town.
Florida has been trying to pull out of a similar death-spiral after Urban left.
Auburn (their permanent West rival) has alternated being the best team in the west, with being among the worst.

UGA with Richt is similar to LSU with Miles, in that you know your worst year is still bowl-eligible, and you will still make future runs. There are much, much worse things in life.

Firing Chiz didn't take balls. Sumbitch went 0-8 in the SEC and finished dead last in the league. That happens any year with Richt and his arse is gone too.

I mean, look at Auburn's handling of the Chiz. His firing took guts and demonstrated that Auburn will do anything to earn another appearance in a national championship...and it worked!

If Mark Richt ever goes 3-9, I can guarantee you he would be fired.

As for us being an elite program, I'd say we're close, but definitely not there. It also completely depends on your definition of elite. Tennessee is probably elite historically, but not in the last 15 years.
