Our starting defense is probably giving up about 6 points a game which is insane given how much we lost and losing our best two pass rushers agains FSU. UGA defense right there, which is impressive job by Kirby.

Maybe maybe not

And we haven't?
Don't get me wrong...I think Alabama is the cream of the SEC, but using that logic doesn't wash. Why not just say that Alabama has ha 7 or 8 straight #1 recruiting classes and your depth is better. You've been there several times and the atmosphere will not intimidate you. But if you think Georgia has not given up garbage points and the 2nd and 3rd teams have not played, then you would be wrong.

games were your backups put in the game during the 3rd quarter against SEC teams?

Most of them, maybe all of them

I'm pretty sure ours has only finished one. Notre Dame.

Are you guys somehow under the impression we have left our first string in all game?
Alabama is the best team in the conference....but man, I'm not sure i understand the thought process some of you guys are using.

I am 100% factually stating that Bama's backups have played a significantly higher number of reps than UGA's.

Reading is fundamental. You left off the rest of what I said.

"We've played a lot of guys on both sides of the ball, especially late. Numerous points have been scored against our 2's/3's which skews the data.

Not sure how many subs Kirby has been playing."

The only thing we're discussing right now is the statistical analysis, which is essentially moot because of how much time our backups have spent on the field.

Based on what? Our backups have played a ton this year.

It's possible. I really don't know. But if yours have gotten 75 snaps and ours have gotten 65 sanps , do you think that really gives you a significand advantage?

Don't get me wrong...I have no doubt Alabama is the better team. But acting like your backups have more snaps is significant is crazy.

Let me put it this way. I would be willing to bet our starters have significantly more snaps than your starters, based on they all played last year as starters...or at least most of them did. Does that give us a significant advantage?

I'm not sure if you're serious at this point. You understand we put up 59 and 66 points in consecutive weeks, right? And that in both those games, entire backup units on both sides of the ball were substituted in for the remainder of the game starting at about 12 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter? By the end of the Ole Miss game, we had a 5th string RB scoring touchdowns, and walk on linebackers making tackles.

THAT'S NOT EVEN WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT.

The ONLY thing I'm arguing is that our statistics are not a super accurate representation because a major portion of our numbers - both offensively and defensively - were put up by our backups. None of this has anything to do with Bama having some mythical advantage because our backups play a lot.

IT'S NOT THAT frickING HARD.

Fair enough. It just seemed as if you were saying thta to prove that the statistics were skewed only against Alabama. I would also argue, that with our record and with the statistics quoted, you would take it for granted that Georgia had played a lot of 2/3 stringers as well. We (Georgia fans) are probably a little testy because all year we have heard, "Notre Dame will beat you!", "Mississippi State will beat you!", "Tennessee will beat you!", "You haven't played anybody yet!", and on and on and on... Everybody on here wants respect for their favorite team. Now that we feel like we have a pretty good team, we really want it!
It's been a long, long time!

You would think, but it often seems to be the opposite of what is expected in situations like that.

This.

UA (1) and UGA (2) lead the nation in defensive efficiency when garbage time snaps are filtered out.

But, while both are strong on the defensive side of the ball, they also are both top 3 (UA 1 and UGA 3) in overall team efficiencies. And these games, as stated, have a tendency to play out differently than expected, especially considering CNS's MO for dominant D performances stems from familiarity and prep. With only a week to fully prep the team against such a quality balanced opponent, I'd expect a UGA vs UA SEC CG to look much more like 2012 SEC CG than a pure defensive, low scoring slug fest.

I'd say that those #'s are a pretty fair representation of both Bama's and UGA's defenses. I've always thought "the #'s are skewed due to backups" argument was pretty week.
