They could have plead it to a reasonable punishment. The only reason they didn't was because he was in Bama gear, and because of the outcome of last season.

so if LSU had won, NOPD would let the guy off easier?

You have got to be kidding me. The crime had gotten too much pub for them not to pursue the guy and bring him justice. The outcome of the game had nothing to do with it.

And, the only reason he rubbed his nuts on another dude was because the unconscious guy was an LSU fan and the outcome of the game.

NEITHER of these guys are worth our support and outrage.

Again, if you do not wish to face a harsh sentence.....don't get charged with a crime.

really is a low bar

It wasn't on camera either.

I don't see how anyone can take up for this kid. You don't pull your fricking balls out in public and put them on complete strangers. Period.

I've not seen anyone take up for him. I've just stated, the sentencing =/= to the crime.

Had an LSU fan done this to a Bama fan, I'd be saying the same thing.

Right.

He'll serve less than half of that sentence and will likely be kept out of general population. Trust me, he could have ended up way worse. He also avoids having to register as a sex offender.

Now, was that RB on a viral video? With friends watching and cheering him on? That in now way makes it right but if everyone wants to know why this got the publicity and the outcome that it did...

I at the Alabama fans who defend the teabagger. Quite humorous, but pretty standard for the fan base.

I'm not taking up for him, but a 2 year sentence? GTFO, you know that's excessive

It has to be on video for it to be a crime now?

No, but it certainly helps the prosecutors case. It's called the justice system. Hard evidence. Watch Law and Order SVU

Around 6 months max, few hundred hrs of community service related to abuse victims and 3-5 yrs probation.
