After reading this I remembered how convinced all the Arkansas fans were on here that they were still going to win the SEC with John L Smith coaching . All the talk of Tyler Wilson being at the helm, and most of the same coaches being in place would lead Arkansas to an SEC championship. It all came crashing down against ULM in War Memorial.

I don't think you can blame us to much. I never thought we would win the west but though we would compete for it. Most Arkansas fans knew that John L Smith was not the answer but we were put in a very tough spot after the bike accident. There was so much hope going into the next season before that all happened. It was to late in the year to find a permanent coach. Looking back though, we should of just promoted his brother to HC for one year.

Having one of the best of anything is kind of a big deal. Same with the RB's.
Meh, that's fair. I'm probably being a dick about TE because LSU has two of the best in the SEC that have gone unused for the past 2 years hopefully that changes this year

They all have something to prove, but the DL is pretty legit.
Fair enough, will be interesting to see how it turns out

DT Taiwan Johnson returns after getting 4.5 sacks last year playing behind Philon
So....one average defensive lineman? Doesn't really refute what I said
quote:

LB Brooks Ellis was 2nd on the team in tackles last year, he's back
And add one average linebacker to that...again, doesn't really refute what I said
quote:

CB DJ Dean was recently named a top 10 corner in college football by pro football focus
That's based on NFL talent alone. Jalen Collins was terrible for most of his college career even though he was a first round talent
quote:

CB Henre Toliver returns after holding Amari Cooper to his lowest output of the season as a true freshman last year
This is sunshine pumping bullshite. Cooper had 11 YPC against Arkansas, he had less against West Virginia, Ole Miss, LSU, Mississippi State, Mizzou, and Ohio State. He was only targeted twice and that didn't really have anything to do with a freshman CB considering his second fewest targets were against Western Carolina.
quote:

That's not including the newcomers like a 2nd team juco all-american defensive lineman
So a player that could potentially be a bust or turn out to be good? This is completely hypothetical.
quote:

CB Jared Collins tied for the SEC lead in pass breakups last year
7 of his breakups came in 2 games, 4 of which were against Anthony
Jennings. Otherwise he was super average all year.

Which means he was covered for the most of the game?
If he was open then why didn't he have more targets?

So they pretty much force fed him the ball in every other game but Arkansas? Hmm that's convenient.

Hint: he probably didn't play the full game vs. Western Carolina

I'm not saying it was irrational to believe this at the time (although hindsight would suggest such). Even Crow Pie with his anti-Arkansas biased views didn't see what lied ahead. I have no doubts that LSU fans would have been equally if not even more optimistic. I was just laughing at looking back and how it all turned out.

I can understand that. Its very sad and kinda funny looking back at that roster and seeing how the season played out.

This is classic. Technically 1 catch for 11 yards does equate to 11 YPC. I guess when you're an LSU fan you get used to spinning the passing game stats to make them sound better.

We shut Cooper down, that aint no sunshine pumping. Most of that secondary is returning. It is a strength for this team.

Because Sims had a God awful game against Arkansas and only completed 11 passes because Alabama couldn't run on ya'll to save their lives and open up the passing game? Not sure what that has to do with the fact that someone made a ridiculous reach that ya'll have good DB's (even though every single major college football publication disagrees) based on Cooper's numbers against ya'll.

Take off the rose colored glasses and see your team objectively for once, Arkansas has serious weaknesses no matter how many bullshite hypotheticals and random assumptions you throw out there. Was Cooper targeted fewer times against ya'll than anyone else? Yes. Does this mean that DB is suddenly no longer a weakness for ya'll this year? Nope. Get over it

You mean the same secondary that gave up 293 yards passing to Auburn, 252 yards passing to Texas Tech, 386 yards passing to A&M, 331 yards passing to Mississippi State, 253 yards passing to Ole Miss, 265 yards passing to Mizzou, and over 200 yards passing to a fricking D2 Nicholls State team? That secondary is returning? I can definitely see why you're so arrogant and not being irrational at all when you claim that ya'll's DB's are a strength

Your argument is one of the worst I've seen on here, but fine, let's agree for the sake of argument that the Alabama game was a fluke. As such, it surely never happened again, right? Remind me, how did LSU's QB fare against the Hogs secondary? How did Bo Wallace do? The Texas QB?

What? No LSU? Are you seriously D-riding Nicholls State? This has to be a new low.

So I respond with stats to clear up why your moronic argument is invalid, and you respond with "what, no LSU?". Yea, no LSU. We had the worst passing attack in the SEC last year so congratulations on your brokedick defense shutting Anthony Jennings down except oh wait...ya'll's secondary gave up 250+ yards to every single average passing team that ya'll played

You were just asking me in your previous post to point out how Bo Wallace and other teams with good passing attacks did against ya'll then you're going to accuse me of "dickriding" when I point out that your weak arse secondary got 200 yards hung on them by Nicholls State. You want to know what's a new low? Only winning 10+ games 3 times in the last 25 years. And going 2-14 in SEC play in the last 2 years. LSU is fine, worry about Arkansas' shitty program going .500 in SEC play and then come talk to me

If your RBs are so great why was Arkansas' rushing offense in conference play so bad? I don't get why you guys keep hyping up your QB and RBs when both are average at best in this conference.
