New AD Ingram will form committee to raise money to upgrade facilities to raise $13 to $20 million

The upgrade in faculties doesn't not include on campus stadium

Most of this was a chance to take a swing at Bama which most folks are looking to do anyway.
No,it wasn't. Most people somewhat knowledgeable about UAB vs Alabama, the BOT and city of Birmingham know the average Alabama Crimson Tide fan couldn't care less one way or another about UAB sports. But its pretty well known since UAB tipped off vs Nebraska in 1978 in basketball that several very powerful, influential Tide supporters either on the board at one time or another or with a lot of stroke did most everything in reason to diminish and hold back UAB sports.
Even if they bring football back, one day UAB football will have to generate decent support in the stands. But it was a good thing for the state and other fans to see the senseless bullying of UAB Sports by the Little Bears, Garry Neil Drummonds, late Sid McDonald, John McMahons and others for over 30 yrs.

It most certainly was. There were a few locals and a UAB fan or two that participated in reasonable discussion here, but 99% of the posts on this topic have been straight up mud-slinging at UA from rival fans that couldn't give a shite about UAB.

How long will it last though?
That's my question. No doubt there will be an increase in support for the first year or two. After that, what happens?
I would ask why this is on the SECR but I already know the answer to that question.

Nice. frick Bama and their low integrity leaders.
And frick gump nation for supporting the dirty frickers.
And frick you and your hypocrisy, false indignant rants, delusion, and general inferiority complex.

The tweets say "football coming back" but how certain is that really? It says Watts "prepared to file notice". I don't trust that fricker or anybody involved and I'll believe it when I see it

Bring it back as soon as the city agrees to build a stadium in downtown.

Good luck with that....or all of these big money donors stoking checks they need.....their Daddy in Tuscaloosa will keep paying for it...

It would be nice if they could work together with the city and get the dome built.

I don't know how long it took for Tulane to build their stadium (the only stadium built recently that I can recall).. However, I'd like for them to get serious about it and try to start building a stadium ASAP. Not sure if it could be done in a year but they're gonna take 2015-2016 off anyway so might as well spend that time building a stadium. Think this would show a commitment to UAB football and get people to actually donate some money.

Bham doesn't need a dome stadium like the GA Dome or Superdome. We really need a first class arena.
UAB needs their own on campus stadium. They don't need the optics of half full stadiums.

They seem pretty confident. Just tweeted "Welcome back Blazers"... They're gonna look ridiculously stupid if they're wrong.

That's really the only way that UAB football can make it.

quote:Yeah. I don't think they can make it without one, and I don't think they have enough backing to build one without using a lot of funds from the university because they don't have the backing from boosters. That's why I wouldn't bring them back before the city agreed to build a new stadium.
That's really the only way that UAB football can make it.

The shitty, I mean city, of Birmingham does not deserve a luxury such as a new stadium or football team. It's a breeding ground for thugs and low lives.
