Or maybe the coach will be like, "Hey, these guys are rapists but we're gonna take this to a vote ... "

The counts of aggravated sexual assault carry a minimum sentence of 15 years per count. So, if they go to trial and are found guilty of 5 counts each, that's 75 years minimum, right there. Plus the other 2 counts of aggravated sexual battery and Vandenburg's additional felony.

They'll have plenty of time to learn all about rape.

This really isn't something to joke about. I shouldn't have posted that.

I haven't followed this story much and there really isn't much info that isn't repetitive when I google. Is there somewhere that I can find the whole story? I listed to the audio from the Clay Travis interview posted in the other thread, but it didn't give many details. Is there not a lot of info out yet?

I think the one on the right played for Baylor before heading to the WNBA.

Between this and the cheerleader thing has more VU parents lurking the SEC sports boards.

I agree, but if they are found guilty I have no problem calling out their tPOS behavior as subject to ridicule.

Exactly.

I'm curious about the 5 counts. Are they just not releasing much info?

And it was a player's GF that was passed out when the others raped her?

This went directly to a grand jury, which is unusual in TN but not unheard of. What a grand jury in TN can do in TN is keep things quiet and allow for ongoing investigation. There are also what are known as 'investigative Grand Juries' in TN which are used only under certain circumstances and for certain crimes. Both the DA and MPD have said the investigation is still ongoing and there could be more charges filed.

It sounds very much like there's another bombshell on the way but if the Grand Jury is still investigating other charges and other people there will be no hint of it until an indictment. The same would go for anything MPD is looking at.

The indictment itself says precious little. It's one of the most silent charging documents I've ever read. I'm guessing that the 5 aggravated rape charges each result from the fact that they met the qualifications for each circumstances.

For example, aggravated rape is unlawful penetration + 1 other element.

Rape + force = 1 count aggravated rape.
Rape + bodily injury = 2nd count.
Rape + 1 or more people helping = 3rd count
Rape + 1 or more ppl helping + force = 4th count
Rape + 1 or more people helping + defendant knew other person was mentally defective, mentally defensive, and/or physically helpless = 5th count

They managed to qualify for each separate rape element that would equal aggravated rape.

Jesus, this whole thing is disturbing. I'm all for ridiculing institutions and poking fun at tPos's but this whole points system/Fulmer cup stuff is pretty damn insensitive for stuff like this.

Wow!!! I am pretty clueless when it comes to legal terms. It makes more sense now.

So, to sum it up for those of us that aren't keen on legal terms, they REALLY fricked up.

Thanks for that explanation. That is some crazy shite. It takes very sick and disturbed people to do shite like that.

Franklin just tweeted something a few minutes ago that is a tad disturbing given the happenings of today around his program.

quote:

James Franklin ?@jamesfranklinvu 12m
2 daughters & 105 sons, the only sons I will ever have are the guys who play 4 me & that's how I treat them!

He posted this photo along with that tweet.

If I were friends or family of the girl that is alleged to have been gang raped by 4 of Franklin's sons, I'd have some real issues with the photos of his little girls he's been tweeting out tonight.

I agree %100. This is way beyond college football. This has destroyed several lives. I think the Fulmer Cup shite needs to stop. That's just my opinion though.

Seconded. It's one thing to chalk em up for jacked stereos and selling text books. But sex crimes? Especially this sick shite? Instant non-qualifier for the Fulmer cup. Anyone that can make light of this story, can DIAF.

It must be wayyyy worse than anyone knows if they are keeping it so quiet. Serious charges. Serious consequences.
