Opportunity is not equal in this country. Never has been and never will be. We're getting further away from a lot of that being based on race, and moving more towards it being based on wealth. To claim everyone born in this country has the same opportunity is pie in the sky talk.

And I'm not saying it should be. It would be nice if it was, but it's impossible to attain. Someone born into wealth has an infinite amount more opportunity than someone born into poverty.

Let's examine your theory. You said individuals of every race are racist. Give an example of when you experience racism. I just want to see how you view racism

I didn't say you did but sitting on your arse to protest blacks being oppressed while surrounded by black millionaires seems a bit reaching. Wanna so done good? How about you go to a poor, violent black community and spend some time and money improving schools or housing? Or continue to sit on your arse during the anthem and accomplish nothing except alienate yourself from the fanbase that pays the bills. It's a free country so either way works for me.

I don't think Kap has said he himself has been a victim of oppression. Maybe Reid has, I don't know. Their using their status as visible NFL players to stand up for those they think are oppressed.

Well why are they so poor? It isn't the polices fault. It's not republicans fault either.

High abortion rates, which I'm fine with abortions, high single parent house holds, less education.

In America you will only stay poor if you refuse education and accept the gov handout as a way of life instead of temporary life line.

So kap and Reid are protesting something they have no clue about or the causes. It's a stupid protest. They should be calling for safe sex, marriage, and staying in school. Something both of them know about.

it's really not. I've always thought that recreational outrage was only practiced by liberal sjw types, but the (mostly) right's knee jerk reaction to Kaepernick and Reid silent protest shows how ridiculous conservatives can be too. The BLM idiots rioted, looted, and destroyed entire city blocks; and everyone told them to protest peacefully. Kaepernick and Reid are protesting peacefully, and now people lose their shite over it. It's not like they're flipping the bird at the flag or something, they're quietly sitting down. Stop being butt hurt over this

Their actions have sparked quit a bit of discussion, wouldn't you?

You don't have to agree with their method, but to say it wasn't effect is just plain wrong.

I never said that I have experienced racism but that doesn;t mean that it doesn't exist.

Wrong, have you ever tried to get financial aid for school? Hint; if you come from middle class money good luck. If you come from nothing you will get the money.

No one can stop you from becoming successful here. It doesn't mean you will be you have every right and every opportunity.
The poorest kid in America still gets free school and a shot at going to college.

There are a ton of examples where policy has prevented poor people from digging out of poverty. I definitely don't feel like going down that route today, though. I shouldn't have even engrained myself in this thread honestly. I'm going to discuss football now, since LSU plays tomorrow.

Whose policies though? Not police policy and its the lefts policy. Either by fault or accident.

Agree completely. I was a victim of the "barely middle class so no grant for you".

I'm more referring to the judicial system. Private prisons, felons unable to vote, war on drugs, etc

But again, I'm going back to football. Y'all have fun in here. Ima enjoy this Friday.

It's about BLM.

And generally speaking, the BLM movement has come with ignorant stances, vague demands, and a lack of identifying what legislatively needs to be changed.

I almost brought that portion of the national anthem up earlier but decided against it because it seemed like a rabbit hole even I didn't want to go down.

Do you think Kaepernick is (or, at least when all this started) aware of the issues with the national anthem? Think he knows of verse we don't sing?

The fact that we've eliminated that verse tells you a lot. An issue was corrected.

Again, oppression is real. It isn't isolated to color. My biggest issue is that if we are going to stand up and take steps in the right direction to end oppression, let's begin by ending self oppression. Stop black on black crime. Stop abortion rates of African American children that are 5X the rate of pregnancies by other races (those unborn lives matter too...so does the life of the mother that is often abandoned by the father and left to deal with the pregnancy on her own). Stop re-electing officials who failed to deliver a semblance of the change and hope for African Americans that they promised. Stop looting and violence as a form of "protest" b/c it dilutes the argument. Stop abandoning the family and start STAYING and fighting for togetherness in the home, then the community, then the nation.
