It's true, i heard Dyer say the same thing on the radio here the other day (not the thug elements part but how he felt like he needed to protect himself). That the reason he wants to go to arkansas is to be around his family so he wouldn't get caught up in all that again

It's called principal. Something Auburn and their fans know little about. Don't worry about Arkansas and their "proven" running backs. McFadden, Jones, Davis, Dyer, etc. were all unproven until they got their chance. The Hogs will have a strong running game this year.

Bielema would be stupid to take him. Arkansas doest need a player who has already been kicked off two different teams. I'm all for giving Dyer another chance whether its his 4th, 5th, 6th or more. It just doesn't need to be Arkansas. Why doesn't gus let himwalk on at Auburn?

Yeah, OK.

That must be why Arkansas had 5 more players arrested, when compared to Auburn, starting in 2010. That's a total of 14 players, while Auburn had a total of 9.

No way, I never would've thunk it. That's how all running backs are. It should still be a concern for someone as a fan. It was a concern of mine, among other Auburn fans, last year.

Yet to be seen, although I think it will be heavily relied on.

And if he does and Dyer goes off, Bielema is a freaking hero in Arkansas.

And if he does let him walk on and it doesn't work out, what does it matter? Then everyone can say "I told you so"??? If I'm BB, I welcome him with open arms. He could make him look like a hero if it works out. If it doesn't, no big deal because it's only BB's first year and there is no way in hell he will get canned after one year.

There is absolutely nothing to lose by taking him as a walk on. No scholly's lost, and it's not like taking him will hurt Arkansas' reputation after the Petrino girlfriend/harley ride/fake accident clusterfrick.

They won't shut up about him on tigernet. They must be more desperate for a rb than arkansas.

we shitcanned petrino, bb should be starting with a clean slate.

i'm torn on the whole thing. i'm not sure that the possible reward outweighs the tpos embedded in dyer. i'll just go with whatever bb decides.

Lol at Arky for being selective and taking the moral high road.

I'm OK with Dyer getting a chance as a Hog. Even though I'm happy with Bielema, I was all for keeping Petrino and was all for Masoli going to Ole Miss.

I must have low morals.

I'm like 51/49 for taking him. My reservation is not that I'm afraid he'll come and do hoodrat stuff with his friends because I don't think he would. My reservation is that I'm worried about how it would effect out locker room and especially our young running backs. Jonathan Williams was all geared to be THE star player this year when Bielema got hired. Then Bielema signed the #1 RB in the country and now the former #1 RB in the country wants to walk on. All the sudden, Williams is the RB people are talking about the least. I'd be pissed if I was him. And Williams is one if the most popular guys in the locker room and if he would resent Dyer from the get-go then a good number of other players would probably follow. And then our team chemistry is fricked and we have players who don't want to play together.

I get that CFB is a business and coaches should do everything they can to win but with a case as complicated as this seems to be, I'd almost advocate putting it to a team vote of some sort. Or at least talk to the players about it.

One player? One fricking player and we go from on the bubble to a sure thing?

That's why I said it was the dumbest shite I had read all day.

Be sure to also highlight that "almost" part, as I don't think anything would be a 100% done deal. Also, as I said, he needs to be the difference in probably just one single game, not six. The MVP of the NC game isn't overwhelmingly likely to make up the difference in a game like Rutgers or Auburn, where we might lose by less than a touchdown?

Exactly why I lean towards not taking him.

You can look at it another way. He may be able to be a good mentor of staying focused, work hard, and be loyal to the team. He would be able to share the pitfalls of having a big ego. Could be a big plus in the locker room for not just the young guys, but all. It could go either way, and the way it looks I am guessing the plus side.

That's a good point too. I hadn't thought of it that way before.

On the plus side Bielema has shown that he can get 3 RB's plenty of carries to keep them all happy.
