Taking the guy who supplied the gun in an armed robbery seems kind of a big risk

He could have said screw it but finished school instead. Give him another chance.

Arky would be dumb to pass on a conversation with him.

Rumor is Arky will take him, but will be no news until after SEC Media Days. Gives them a couple of weeks of 'dead time' to let the news grow old before Fall Camp.

Sounds like the kid (if you consider a 22-23 yr old a kid) was on a short leash at Arky Baptist. He had specific requirements to meet each week, he received counseling, and the got his grades up. I'd give him shot as long as it didn't tie up a scholly spot on the roster.

I listened to an interview the other day with Fitz Hill (Ark Bapt Head Coach) on Jake Arute's show on XM radio. He specifically spoke about M Dyer and his time at school. Spoke of how Dyer had turned down an opportunity to go pro this year, an NFL scout said they would draft him in the 4th or 5th round. But Dyer wanted to finish school and clear his name by showing everyone he had changed. They talked about the gun charge and I found a few things interesting. The Gun was legally purchased and he claimed he got it for protection, that he feared for himself in Auburn and that he wasn't going to get sent home to Arky in a body bag and wanted the gun for protection against the thug elements in Au at the time.

Coach said for the teams that are looking at allowing Dyer walk on to please sit down and talk with him and not to judge him by what's been reported in the Media. It was an interesting listen and Coach Hill seemed like a great person.

I hope Bielema takes a chance on the guy, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. The MVP of a NC game is offering to walk on to our team for God's sake, how much more humble pie do you want the guy to eat?

With Dyer, I'd say our chances of making a Bowl game would go up to almost a sure thing. That's kind of important right now.

Agreed, one year and he could bring some offensive juice to your backfield. I don't think he messes up again.

Vegas has us winning 5.5 games. Most people think we're going to pull somewhere between 4 and 7 wins, with 3 and 8 being the best/worst case scenario. Michael Dyer, a RB who was the offensive MVP in a National Championship game and proven big-time producer in the toughest conference in the nation coming to play in a run-first offense wouldn't almost make a Bowl appearance a sure thing?

Well do go on, Professor Pigfeet. I'd love to hear why this theory is so dumb.

Only if it would help our AARP rating. If not, we don't want him and don't need him.

Arkansas doesn't even have a proven running back on campus. How can you type this with a straight face?

I know, Jonathan Williams has shown some promise, and Alex Collins allegedly has all the potential in the world, but Dyer is a completely different case. We're not expected to go winless, Dyer would not have to be the difference of six games to make a Bowl. He's going to have to be the difference in one game, maybe two. And I'm not talking about picking up the slack in Alabama or Texas A&M, I mean against Rutgers or Auburn - games we can definitely lose, but games we're also going to keep respectable.

I have a hard time believing we wouldn't reach six wins with him.

Bielema would be fricking stupid to not take him as a walk on and I agree, he is the difference from winning 5 games to possibly 7 this season.
