LSU fans think Miles was offered the Arkansas job before Bert, so link that shite up.

Miles was in talks with Long about Bert and Patterson since Miles had history with both, Patterson's agent used this to leverage Miles a raise at LSU which is basically his job.

Go back and find where Petrino was given a raise and extension with a huge buyout and morality clause and you will see the amount was increased to keep him from going to Florida.

I am well aware miles used the ark job to get a pay raise. He was never a candidate. I am waiting for your link to foley offering petrino the uf job still.

Not sure quite the same. Most of those years the Horned Frogs were in the MWC which was not exactly a Murders Row of college FBS football. TCU is up mainly because the lead dogs are both in down cycles and TCU could easily have 3 more losses this season.

4 point win to 7-3 Oklahoma in game where OU QB had bad day
1 point win to 6-4 West Virginia at end of game
3 TD win on a flat looking Kansas State team
4 point win to 3-7 Kansas late in game

Patterson reminds me of Bobby Bowden, not a bad coach, but in a tougher conference, not a great one either. If Bowden had agreed to move Free Shoes to the SEC it would be fairly safe to say he would have picked up 1-3 more losses per season and he pretty much admitted as much.

Patterson was hence the connection.

You know as well I do coaches are not Publicly offered jobs unless they have already accepted them in private today.

Saban was never "offered" the Texas job last year, mainly be cause he turned them down after being offered...

Miles wasn't offered the Michigan job before Rich Rod either.

That doesn't mean he was offered the job. That is like saying Sumlin was offered the USC job last year because he got a raise.

Petrino probably leveraged uf job to get a pay raise but foley never seriously considered him.

Miles has never been a serious candidate at mich. Carr and the old ad made sure of that.

He was the first person Foley contacted about the opening.

Do you think Michigan got their first choice to replace RichRod?

Do you think SC got their first choice to replace Carroll then Kiffen?

Do you think Texas got their first choice to replace Brown?

It isn't as simple for these schools to go out and get who they want, many factors at play in these scenarios.

But by all means Florida and LSU fans start a thread naming the #1 for each school's choice so we can all laugh when it doesn't happen.

He has the same agent as Miles and is friends with Miles, that leaves LSU with no shot before they can even get in the dollar bill measuring contest with TCU.

1. Miles isn't getting fired. If the LSU job is open it will be because Miles left on his on accord to go to Michigan or NFL or retire.
2. Any coach would be an idiot to turn down LSU (or UF) for TCU. Also are you trying to say LSU can't afford to outbid TCU?
Patterson's salary: $3.4 million
Miles's salary: $4.3 million
LSU AD revenue in 2012:
quote:

LSU $114,787,786: LSU's revenues increased by $7.5 million in 2012 while its operating expenses increased by $10.2 million. However, the program's revenues – none of which come from subsidies – still exceeded expenses by $12.8 million. That made 2012 the second consecutive year in which it has had an eight-figure operating surplus

LSU AD revenue in 2013:
$117 million
TCU AD revenue in 2013:
$71 million. LINK

Harris is a true freshman who led his high school team in MIAMI to 3 straight state title games against the best competition in the country.

Yeah, no one wants to coach him.

He's not an exciting prospect at this level given what he's demonstrated this year. He's good on his feet but not electric (IMO). His passing is very mediocre. But if you need to feel better about next year, I get it.

I'm saying TCU has resources outside of their AD to be able to pay Patterson whatever he wants to stay.

Sure.

Its better than "x" big name had no interest so we hand selected from the list of names available to us.

Bobby Petrino came off as a dick in the interview and Jack Del Rio (who was actually a hot name in the NFL in 2004) wouldn't leave his car because his agent told him the Jags owner was going to fire him for just taking the interview.
