They might think differently if you go 5-6 this year and miss a bowl again, which looking at your schedule is very possible.

I'm sure the next coach will appreciate that.

So how does this work - do you base UF's schedule only by 11 games & everybody else 12?

Dammit! Losing that bump in SOS that we were gonna get from beating the team that beat Idaho may hurt us with the committee.

That's a good question if, due to the "no contest", they have to sit out this game.

How so? The money and logistics to have them come back is crazy.

True. But look at it this way. If y'all come back big time (As I and many on here think you will) and you lose, say only 1 game, it will be VERY difficult for you to go to the Playoff. If you DON'T come back big, then you might need that easy win to be bowl eligible.

I wasn't implying that the Idaho game against UF was a "make or break," but, come bowl season...no matter what your record...you guys are going to be judged for this. Like I said before, just looking ahead. I have nothing against your Gators. But you know how the Bowl Selection Committee is.

Why would florida not reschedule on the open date before UGA? Both teams are open?

Why add a game and risk injury before the matchup that will probably decide both the East and Muschamp's continued tenure as Florida's HC?

Florida will begin its season next week at home (with three players who were suspended for the Idaho game now able to return) against Eastern Michigan, while Idaho heads to ULM.

Not really.

Under the new measure, if there are not enough bowl-eligible teams,

Have you ever known there to not be enough teams?

Because it isn't adding a game. Everyone plays 12. Florida just weaseled its way out of doing what every other team has to do because they are scared of playing a team they used to dominate without a bye week. Never thought I'd see that day. Here it is. Florida doesn't think they can beat UGA in the cocktail party without a bye week.

Oh, I get it...just funny that if you get punished for a game that doesn't happen...you're free to go.

Funny you should ask. CBS thinks it could be a problem this very year. So yes, really they could still go to a bowl.

Biggest game of the year

Sat, Sept 20 @ #2 Alabama
Sat, Oct 4 @ Tennessee
Sat, Oct 11 vs #12 LSU
Sat, Oct 18 vs #24 Missouri

These are all before the UGA game, your season could easily be over.

Florida is at worst 2-2 through that stretch and more likely 3-1, if the UGA doesn't decide the East then Florida probably has a lame duck coach playing out the string so the Idaho game wouldn't matter anyway.

You might get a bite or two.
