No, I agree he has an arm, I just want to see him under real pressure before anointing him much less putting him over Treon given Brantley and Driskel.

Neither would be above 3rd string at UT

Grier was #4 in the nation.
Harris was #7.
Dobbs was 21st.....

It was considerably more talented than ours was, you did have 7 players drafted off that squad.
Besides, I can't think of an easier offense to defend than one with a terrible oline, missing it's only good running back, and running a read/option with a QB that never pulls the ball and runs.
I'll give credit to your defense, but they had a pretty easy job last year.

Both could be effective, but watching in person there is a noticeable difference. Grier has a command of the offense and his throwing ability really sets him apart. I don't think we could go wrong with either guy, but unless Grier plays terrible against ECU I'd be surprised if he isn't eventually named the permanent starter.

Grier will be the starter unless he plays horrible against ECU. A lot of his passes were perfect and he was clearly better passing the ball down field. Maybe Harris will get some plays once conference play starts but Grier has the size and looked better on the field.

always a good "problem" to have.
the real problem would be if neither were any good.
if a qb can't handle competition and needs to be coddled then maybe he should go sell insurance or something.
if your team needs a spark or someone is having a bad day, you have another option.
i think the whole "can't play if they have to look over their shoulder" is horseshite. they aren't in kindergarten, if both are mature they'll just keep each other sharp. they aren't working a gov't job out there, they're competing. compete everyday i say.
some games one of em will have the hot hand.

You mean Doug Johnson and Jesse Palmer?
Didn't they split reps for a while?

Dougie and Noah split time in 1997. When we beat F$U in the "Greatest game ever played in the Swamp" they were alternating on literally every play.

Driskel threw more touchdowns than incompletions last Saturday.
Pretty sure the team sucked, not the quarterback. Can't say the same for Brantley, but Driskel did pretty damn well with another, less talented team.
12 - 15 for 274 yards. Almost 30 yards a completion.

Totally agree with all of this. Grier just looks like an absolute natural, he's got some great years coming.

As to the OP. How many two QB systems have ever really worked?
Spurrier made a living on it in the 90's. He rotated QBs like Travis Henry did baby mommas.

Tennessee fans talking trash
Your starting QB's career stats are worse than Jeff Driskel's.
What's that average Alien's INT/TD ratio now? Has the average Qb finally gotten more TD throws than picks?
We all know Grier will out play Dobbs in our game, no doubt there. After all, he gets to throw against the second worst defense in the SEC.

LOL. Our offense was terrible last year and you know it. Draft picks didn't help one bit.

No you did, the talent was certainly there, just not developed correctly.
Just defending Driskel, now, though, because he seems to be able to do well outside of Florida.
Likewise with Brisset.

Its not a true battle. It's Grier's job. How so many UF fans can't see this is astounding to me.

Clearly Grier has the better arm/release point....but Treon has improved his arm strength from last year and threw some hummers in there. Need both on team and they both can help us win.
