Was glad to see those two hugging after the last knee by Mettenberger. Very good sportsmanship by both players.

Mizzou traditionally does not handle qb's like Taylor well.

We can stop one dimensional passers, but duel threat guys are a problem.

Patton is going to be an issue. I'm not sure we have the speed at LB to keep him from getting good yards. We had it last year, not as much this year.

Just keep blitzing we seem to never make adjustments to pick one up. Our O lineman might as well just wave as the DL and lb's go by.
But they do seem to be nice guys. They at least offer our qb a helping hand to get up.

I really feel like this will be a very good game.

You recruit players that other teams kick off. Shut your whore mouth with your "thug" accusations.

QB is serviceable but he's an upperclassman and has been a career back-up during some of the worst years for QBs and passing offenses ever for Florida, so that tells you something.

He's had some solid games versus UT, UK, and Arky but their passing and total offenses leave something to be desired. LSU provided more of a defensive stand, and Murphy didn't do so well, with his worst performance yet.

UF throws to 3 WRs, and that's it. They each have 300+ receiving yds, but the other 8 receivers with an official reception have less than 150 yds combined. They lost Jones who was 50% of their rushing depth this season, but still have Mack who has performed just as well and they are excited about freshman Taylor, although he hasn't done a whole lot....

UF has a real basic conservative grinding offense with very few attempts at long gain plays. Their defense carries their world for them, and is expected to keep opponents from scoring so their own offense won't have to. If Mizzou is able to jump out to a lead of any kind UF will struggle to keep up, but moving the ball on UF's defense has proven troublesome for everyone they've played...

Word on Mauk is that he's got skills, and probably a better arm than Franklin. But his scrambling isn't quite as good, and he tends to scramble a little too early. He is confident, and anxious to prove himself. But borders on cocky. He's not as tall as Franklin, which will likely impact his field vision a bit, and could lead to mistakes.
His passes will likely be more lasers, where Franklins floated a bit.

sorta surprised they got handled (for the most part) by a very inconsistent LSU DL.

Heres my view of the game and the year. Before the LSU game we were functional on offense and complimented the defense...what happened?

I think part of it is LSU was at home and had a fire lit under their azz...they already had 1 SEC loss and another one would rule them out for Hotlanta mosty likely. Another part of the equation is that LSU stopped our run and forced us into third and longs...way too many of them really...(I credit their young defense maturing and being coached up). Murphy didn't stand a chance and most OL do not pass block well on third and ten or third and fourteen etc etc when the opponent is bring it.

Granted...our OL didn't do much to help themselves and the flags and missed assignments added to our woes. Eventually LSU had its OL fired up and doing just enough to get Hill a lot of 6-8 yd carries which demoralizes a defense eventually.

Our game last week was still doubt til about mid 4th qt...but LSU was the better team. Our offense didn't turn the ball over but Murphy should have been picked off twice.

Mack Brown and true frosh Kelvin Taylor (son of Fred) will now be RBs that I think will do even better than Matt Jones...he never seemed to recuperate from his virus this summer. # 1 Quinton Dunbar & # 83 Solomon Patton are our best WRs, # 8 Trey Burton is a jack of all trades and a possession receiver...he does do well catching the ball and can run...he scored on 80 yd TD against UT last year that he did mostly on his own.

I was somewhat impressed by the little bit of replay I watch of Mauk...he seems to have skills.
It will be a battle of our OL vs your DL basically. If we can run effectively the game is ours if we don't get charitable. Our defense is the best in the country and even though we missed Easley...our DL can still hold its own....LBs have speed and secondary has no equal.

Do not expect to score many points...aint happening. Look for a 16-10 type game.

I was a bit surprised at his showing in the UGA game. He's been y'all's #2 QB for a bit, right? Doesn't he get a lot of practice reps during game weeks as the #2?

He seemed quite a bit lost on offense once he took the field...was looking all the time over to his sideline before plays, with his hands held out. They only let him pass a few times: he completed all 3, but two were pitch-outs to the sideline or dump-offs for no or loss of gains. He had one big completion for 20 yds to Green-Beckham, but it was either woefully short by almost 5 yds, or there was almost a HUGE miscommunication between QB and WR - luckily, G-B was able to see it early enough, and dive backwards towards the LOS and snag the ball for the gain and 1st down.

If there was a UGA safety coming over to provide help on the coverage the pass would've been an easy INT, but apparently UGA doesn't coach their safeties to provide help on pass coverage these days...

Otherwise it was boring heavy ball-control offense from Mauk: attempt to tuck and run for a few yds, or hand it off and get out of the way. Hopefully they'll have a larger play-sheet for your #2 QB this week for UF's defense....

Mauk has looked lost every time he has been in a game this season. But the 20 yard pass to DGB was designed to be under thrown.

He's a RS freshman, so not that long. I expect him to be a little more settled this week. Bottom line, we just need him to limit mistakes and manage the game this week. We likely won't need to put up big numbers on offense, which is good for his first start.

Yep, I agree with this: it's going to be a low-scoring affair. Depends more on how much Mizzou can score on UF than how much UF can score on Mizzou, IMO....

A first start against our D is very hard. Cockiness will not help him either. I suspect MO doesn't throw a lot because they expect incompetence from our O. Our secondary is outstanding. VHIII is a true freshman first team all American. That is simply SICK.

Our O.
Jones is out, but he has not been good this year because of his illness. Kelvin T is very talented and will be great. Hopefully with more reps in practice he will be much better at knowing what to do (he is lost not infrequently). I think the running game should be improved. What worries me is protecting our QB.

Our WR have been discussed. We have DRob and Fullwood who finally caught passes this weekend and were more involved. Our big issue is the freaking OL. If they at least become mediocre, we should improve considerably.

No TE. We have a good fullback who should be more involved.

MO DEs worry me, but good grief our OC should figure out what the frick to do, or I agree with someone else here, he needs to go already.

MO will not score more than 20. I hope they are sky high from their win between the hedges. We should be pissed and focused. I expect we should win another snoozer.
