Anyone who doesn't think Florida is one of the top 5 jobs is uninformed.

1. History of championships and winning ever since Spurrier era.

2. Tons of 4 and 5 stars within walking distance.

3. Lots and lots of money.

4. Tons of exposure and media love.

Florida is one of the few teams in the nation with those kinds of credentials.

Florida needs to offer about $5M and 72 virgins.

Remember when we were ridiculed for running off the likes of Bill Curry and Mike Shula after four years?

Agreed. I would rank it as the second best job in the conference

If you suck at coaching, you're fired. Muschamp sucks at coaching. And he was given four years.

Right. But, for whatever reason Muschamp was believed to be a defensive savant when he ran Saban and Tuberville's defenses at LSU and Auburn. And, his defenses at Texas weren't world beaters. I think Muschamp is well connected and that's how he got the UF job because there are defensive coordinators with better resumes that don't get a UF level job as their first job.

Rightly or wrongly, Muschamp was considered one of the hottest -- if not the hottest -- assistants in the country when he was hired. It has less to do with connections and more to do with the fact that he was heavily in demand at the time. The fact that he's flopped at UF doesn't change that.

UF is usually ranked 1 or 2 whenever I see these kinds of rankings. Some examples:

Florida is absolutely a top job. SEC-east is garbage and a terrible Florida team could have won the SEC-east last night.

Florida is an elite job. And you don't have to win a title in 3 years. Muschamp was fired because he could not even field a competitive team.

I think it's one of the best Coaching positions in the NCAA.

Less than 10 years removed from a NC.They've made a couple of bad hires.

There's so much talent in the State.Great facilities.Great fanbase.

Foley just needs to get this one right.

FSU and Miami are on the upswing again as well. All of this doesn't equal a great job. I think this hire will be underwhelming.

So it's almost as bad a job as Bama was when they hired Saban then?

Uh... facilities aren't THAT great. We are actually behind in that area. And our fanbase isn't necessarily the greatest either.

IMO, UF and UGA are the 2 best jobs in the country because they have the right balance of program resources, recruiting base, and historical performance with job pressure. Saban in his first year was one loss away from getting enough bricks thrown through his living room window to build a outside BBQ. Alabama is a great job when your winning but it's also got the most pressure. Saban has been a perfect fit. In fact, I think it time to start making the point that he's accomplished more than the Bear, considering that Saban's tenure was more challenging w/ today's competition and NCAA rules.
