What's he has accomplished at a school with as few of resources and $$ as Tech is nothing short of spectacular. He would be a great hire. He also already recruits Florida heavily

He turned down the Tennessee job.

Yeah over a year ago. He failed to reach the NCAAT yet again this year with a team that many said was the reason he was sticking around another year.

I bet you say when you hug your pillow after a girl shoots you down. Michael White is a hell of a coach and would be a great hire for UF.

He hasn't proven a single thing. He's won 70% of his games at LT and hasn't come close to the tourny. He plays against shite competition. He might be a hell of a coach...but the truth is no one really knows exactly how good of a coach he is. He might be a hell of a coach hindered by a poor basketball school(ours isn't too much better)...or he might be a hell of a coach by current CUSA standards(which isn't all that impressive).

But OM fans needs to stop bad mouthing Kennedy the guy can just flat out coach. The grass isn't always greener.

You won't hear that from me. Hell....it surprises me that you guys haven't considered AK yet.

Ole Miss is traditionally a shite basketball school that he's been building up into a half-arse respectable one. Early AK years and prior....we were consistently in bottom 10 percent of basketball budget of the 330+ D1 schools. And now he's responsible for 25% of our NCAAT appearances and 40% of our NCAAT wins.

in case you're wondering....we've only been to the NCAAT 8 times with 5 wins...two of which by Kennedy..and two of which in 2001 when we went to the Sweet 16.

but yeah....ole miss TOTALLY deserves much better than what AK has done for us....

nd before you mention it...yes...I do consider Ole Miss basketball to be about the same as LaTech in basketball tradition. But we seem to be making some huge strides now.

And with Auburn, State, and Alabama all upgrading their coaching the last couple of years we are likely to get dickslapped back to our rightful spot in the abyss.

I think Mack signed for a huge extension this offseason, so he wont be going anywhere this year.

Nope. According to LA Tech posters, he's going to coach at Duke for daddy when Coach K retires.

You can argue if he's better than Johnson simply because Johnson has never coached college basketball, but in no way can he hold Barnes or Howland's jock. Good lord

Howland is a joke. He made final fours when his team was loaded with talent. The game has passed him by... He bought one of the most expensive classes in the history of college basketball and did nothing with it

I reached with Barnes who was brought in for stability. Which he will provide 10 fold. He was a great hire by UT. Exactly what they needed.

Didn't he turn us down due to the contract and that Hart wouldn't increase the years or something stupid?

He would have been a better hire than CDT obviously but I am glad it worked out the way it did since we now have Slick Rick.

I think this would be a solid hire for UF he'd be in the middle of the pack in terms of SEC Bball coaches though now with the upgrades made. I'd say 8-10 range.

maybe...maybe not. Raising the strength of the conference will allow us to schedule easier OOC games and have a better RPI/SOS. Playing two >200 RPI SEC teams twice tanks the shite out of our RPI. Thats the problem we've had with Auburn and MSU for the past few years.

Yes. He had leverage as well since he had what was expected to be a top 25 team coming back, so people said he could be very picky/wait a year. However not surprisingly he did not make the tourney with that team.

That may be, but guys like Howland and Barnes are essentially unhirable for UF.

The upside of White is what is so appealing. Look at the hiring history of Foley and you can understand why he loves this guy.

that isn't a splash hire

We have never really cared about a splash hire. Not our gig unless it just works out that way.

He does have a ton of potential. He's young and hasn't been a HC for very long.

but, then again......that can just as easily describe me so.....

to his defense....that was the big question about Howland. I won't go as far as to say he's a joke...but he has to re-prove himself.

The knock on him leaving UCLA was that the game passed him by. He had a less-than-stellar last few seasons by UCLA standards.

The good news for MSU is that...even if he still isn't the coach he once was....It'll still be enough to see a vast improvement at MSU.

muenster was hired from marshall by uf 2 years after they were in the final four. white would be solid but i wouldn't blame anyone for not creaming their pants over the hire.

SECR is gatorbasketballsessed.

3 pages and the only folks stressing over a report from Pat Forde are the other SEC fans. This place is weird.
