fwiw...if White does get the UF job...I'll be happy as hell for him and hope that he does well. Would be great to get an Ole Miss Alum a big-time gig in basketball.

Archie Miller can get a better job. UF has horrible facilities. They will revert to pre Donovan days and be among the worse in the SEC.

Anyone that knows Foley knows this is the type of hire he loves. A young guy and proven strong recruiter. May not move the needle quite like hiring Miller would, but this is someone Gator fans have actually been talking about since the beginning.

Johnny Jones turned them down so Florida is going after the second best basketball coach in Louisiana

I would think UF would be able to get someone better than White.

Hell...the only reason some Ole Miss fans want the guy is because he's an Ole Miss guy.

Yeah I assumed Ole Miss fans wanted him because he was the biggest name they thought they could get.

Florida should not be getting a smaller hire than MSU, Tennessee and Alabama.

We probably could. There was talk that Archie has a ridiculously high salary, and that we would have to pay him more than guys like Shaka Smart and his brother out at Arizona and that just isn't going to happen, he's not worth that.

That said, he was my #1. Anytime we look to hire someone we have to look at it through Foley's eyes. Pretty much anyone over 45 gets thrown out, then it comes down to things like recruiting, building power, likeability, etc.

My only issue with White (during our coaching search) is his tournament record. He's done great during the regular season at LT, but his team's haven't been able to get over that hump.

Three straight conference season titles but couldn't win the tourny for the auto bid.

And that says a lot about the conference if being the regular season champ still isn't good enough to make it.

Money isn't the issue, paying a guy well over his market value is.

I bet you say when you hug your pillow after a girl shoots you down. Michael White is a hell of a coach and would be a great hire for UF.

But OM fans needs to stop bad mouthing Kennedy the guy can just flat out coach. The grass isn't always greener.

I hate when other fan bases make me defend the Gaytors. I really really do. But Michael White would be the best hire made this offseason in the conference. Sorry Bama, MSU and UT but its a fact.

If Florida hires him and he does a really good job I'll be sick to my stomach.

okay

You can argue if he's better than Johnson simply because Johnson has never coached college basketball, but in no way can he hold Barnes or Howland's jock. Good lord
