They had massive success under Donovan, you dont find it a little surprising they hired a guy with 4 years HC experience and has never made the NCAAT?
In basketball?
No. There are several "mid-major" schools that are better jobs than "power 5" jobs in basketball.
Successful basketball coaches are not looking to move all that often unless offered by a far superior program (See: Mike Anderson).
Their lack luster hires post Urban are more surprising than taking a solid up and comer in basketball.

I keep hearing people saying that but do you know how hard it is to make the NCAA tournament when you are in the WAC and Conference USA? They only take the conference tournament winners from those conferences. He has won three straight regular season championships. He won the WAC regular season championship in his second year and the CUSA regular season championship last year and this year. Anything can happen in conference tournaments and a lot times the best team in that conference doesn't win it. Believe me he will do an outstanding job at Florida. I hate losing him but he was the best hire available for Florida and I'm positive that he will have success there.

As opposed to the big name proven coach hire they have never made?
Uh. UF was a little better than they were before Billy D. This is two steps backwards from they had built.

CUSA/WAC has received multiple bids in the tourney during White's tenure at latech, Latech wasn't one of those invited, but that doesn't mean they are a one bid low major league like inferred.

Seems like an underwhelming hire given the success Florida had under Donovan
Even with the success Donovan had a UF, it just always seemed their fan base for basketball could only show up for a few high profile games each year. To have all that success on the court, and fail to have fans in the stands has always puzzled me and may have been a factor in a higher profile coach not wanting to play second string to the almighty pigskin.

UF is one of the top jobs in the country easily...They paid Donovan about 4.5 mil and have won championships recently.

UF IS A FAR SUPERIOR PROGRAM, this isnt 1990s UF anymore, this is a program that pays top dollar and won 2 championships recently.

This is who I wanted at AU when I didn't think Pearl was a possibility. Damned good hire by UF. UA is dumb for not going this route.

Since then they have visited the NIT twice and had the same coach finish with a losing record (which is damn hard to do in college basketball).
Florida isn't a blue blood by any stretch, UCLA is the only blue blood that has had trouble attracting top coaching talent.

2 championships and fairly consistent NCAAT appearances/success all recently. 1 losing season doesnt change the fact they have seen way more NCAAT success than most other schools and on top of that pay way more than usual.

That is one of the top SEC hires of the year, hands down

2 Championships with the same roster.
The following roster to that team was shite, hence NITs that followed.
A decent roster followed, which has been replaced with another shite roster, hence a losing season.
Add in the lack of fan support, facilities, and always being second to football, and it is easy to see Florida isn't as attractive as several other jobs that are worth staying at or worth waiting to open.

Better than Tennessee's, Ms. State's, and Bama's for sure.

Decent? They went to 5 straight NCAAT after those NIT seasons including 3 Elite 8 appearances and 1 Final Four. That's consistently good success.

The losing is weird but it wasn't from a shite roster, there were numerous big time talents on UF's team last season.

4.5 mil a year, all that matters

False. New Mexico St received the only bid from the WAC in 2012 and 2013 and Tulsa received the only bid for CUSA in 2014 and UAB received the only bid for CUSA in 2015. All were conference tournament winners.
