This USC trash talking is without merit.
What was the last SEC team to beat USC? USC is the premiere program of the 00's. Since 2003, USC could have been "game" for any NC title shot. No other program can claim that.
If you just want to spew hatred toward USC, that is clearly your right. But to say that they are/were inferior to OSU or OU (NC opponents) is ludicrous. The PAC10 was 5-0 in bowl games.
USC's tough OOC opponent: Ohio State
LSU's tough OOC opponent: Washington
I am no USC fanboy - I do not even like them - I just do not lie to myself.
I do, however, have a mild man crush on this guy:

USC was proclaimed by media to be the best college team ever in 2004(Pete Carrol also admitted is was the best he ever had). That was promptly before Texas beat them in their own back yard. That was their "dynasty" team going for the three peat even though LSU won the BCS the previous year. Until the Pac 10 ends its deal with the Rose bowl and starts sending their only team that would have a winning record in the Big 12, SEC or maybe ACC to another bowl I guess we'll never know. USc pasted OSU; so what, the big 11 might be more overrated then the PAC1.
As for USC could have been game for any NC shot. You're right all they had to do was beat Stanford; not in swimming or golf but on their own football field. The following year if I'm not mistaken the Beavers beat them... Maybe this will be the year when USC finally plays a good team in January.

Totally irrelevant. All that matters is if you win the game, which you have to be in in the first place. USC, for all of it's "dominance", has 1 BCS Title, not to mention a loss to Stanford. I, and I'm sure LSU fans feel the same way, will take our 2 BCS trophies and USC can keep the "most dominant team of the decade" title.
Oh, and LSU's tough OOC opponent is nothing more than an in-conference game for USC, so that doesn't really help things.

Yes we did but I don't think anyone claimed us as the best team in college football or greatest program ever or most dominate team of the 2000's. I'm pretty sure we were talking about your over-hyped one team conference.

everyone knows the best team ever is the tulane greenwave

is that your excuse for losing to them

Did it sound like an excuse? Are you trying to compare UA's 2007 and 2008 team to USC? Are you trying to compare your losses to Stanford and in conference game at home to play for the national title in year 5 of the coaches program to a loss by a bottom half of a conference team to a non-conference team in first year of a coaches program (BTW we were only favored by 20).
I get it you must be comparing the Utah beating to the one Texas gave you. You were suppose to win by 7. We were suppose to win by 9 or something. You guys were the team of the decade; we were a team resurrected. I see now.

General13,
Most teams lose at least one game a year. Concerning your example: Did you actually watch the USC vs. Stanford game? Or were you, like most of the cfb world, just happy to see them lose so that you could discount them as contenders? The media is actually biased against USC.
I agree about the Rose Bowl tie-in bullsquash. That is hardly USC's fault.
Tom288,
I am always curious to see what LSU and UF fans have to say about USC. Your argument makes sense on the outside. Cut it open to see the problems. What you are saying is that USC is better than LSU or Florida, but the SEC teams have more hardware. Well, USC would have more hardware if they would be given benefit of the doubt, as UF and LSU were. So a computer spit out a number for LSU/UF that was higher than USC? Who uses computers? If we know one team is better than the other, why are diddling around with a computer? Look at USC's bowl record (and scores). When was the last time they lost? Against a great UT team led by Vince Young in one of the "greatest cfb games of all time" by a slight margin? When was the last time UF lost? Against an okay Michigan squad by a serious margin.
UF needs to stop losing to mediocre Big10 teams...remember Iowa? That is, if you want to talk about your superiority to USC.
You are confusing success with greatness.

Too early. Could be.
I still think the '06 LSU team would have kicked Florida's arse last year.

i aint trying to compare our teams. we have nothing to do with bama and vice versa. ( i would love a home and home with you guys thou, great history with us). we have nothing to do with any SEC teams yet you guys bring up SC all the time, who cares if ESPN talks about us a little too much. we have been left out the past out of the NC game the past two years, so there isnt this bias you SEC guys keep talking about.

I have spent copious amounts of time on the West coast. I saw the game. USC played flat and sloppy all night. Just like every other team that is upset by an underdog.
I'm not saying USC is not a premier program. It is. I just wish we could have some type of playoff to prove-disprove theories on conferences.

We beat Iowa in our Bowl game, apparently you don't remember. I never once said USC was better than UF or LSU. My point was everyone can say they're this great team/dynasty and I'll keep our trophies. Also, you cannot say USC would have more hardware if they were in the title games. I have 2 issues with that:
1. Great teams make the game. And before you bring up UF losing a game, our strength of schedule is much higher than USC's. If they want to be able to slip up in a game then they need to play tougher teams, outside of the occasional OOC game.
2. Even if USC made the games, you don't know that they would have won. They were supposed to beat Texas, we saw how that worked out.
I think it's funny that you distinguish between greatness and success. You can't have greatness without success.
And we lost to Michigan by 6 points, you consider that a serious margin? Do you even check your facts before you post?

This seems obvious to me but, if they couldn't kick our 06 team's arse, what makes you think they would have done it last year?

what do you want to prove about conferences? any smart CFB fan know the sec is the best. i dont get this conference thing. i worry about SC no one else. does florida winning make you happy, i would think bama winning is all that should matter to you.

I think 01 Miami is probably the best team ever.

I never said I don't think USC is very good. I think they're a great team and could compete with anyone if they played in any other conference, including the SEC. I just said I'll take 2 BCS titles and everyone else can worry about claiming who the greatest team of this decade is. I'm happy with our accomplishments.
And if you were referring to my post above where I said I never said USC was better than UF or LSU, I was talking about single team matchups, particularly in championship seasons. IE, I think 08 UF could have beaten 08 USC. That doesn't mean I think UF was the better team every past season.
