It's a little bit of both. I do feel like a lot of the sound does escape from the stadium. I think it has to do with the structure.

It's because the lower bowl bends out so far from the field. Stadiums where those seats run parallel to the field tend to generate more noise.

dont listen to the Auburn fans about the crowd noise. of course they are against everything Bama which is all fair.. but it gets extremely loud for the bigger games. Not as loud against the CSU's of the world. I've been to all the SEC stadiums except ATM and Mizz. Bama is probably top 3 IMO as far as tailgating goes. When going to a Bama game its a must to stay Thursday and Friday to soak some of that stuff in. Towards the top as far as enjoying it as a rival fan. Even still, all fanbases are going to have assholes. I'm sure you will encounter a few.

However don't expect a loud crowd - they just don't get very loud which is weird/surprising.

If I wasn't lazy post multiple quotes from multiple recruits throughout the years talking about how loud it is. It's over 100,000 ppl. Common sense should tell you that it gets loud.

It's amazing that you posted an honest question and you get three pages of total BS from rantards that are looking to up their post count.

Now, to answer your question, I have been to several UM/UA games at both Oxford & Tuscaloosa with UM friends. I have found that Where-ever we were the crowds were cordial & hospitable. The tailgates on the Quad are good, but not up to the quality you are used to in the Grove, but still a good experience and most are very friendly. You should have a good time, so enjoy your weekend.

Do you remember Fulton County Stadium ? That is what the top of the Stadium reminds me of. Do not wander two block off campus, it is a hell hole.

Sounds like you've never been to campus.

I was there last month. First time since the tornado. I like the campus and the strip, the rest of the area is a hell hole.

Around the campus isn't bad. West side of town is about the only really bad part.

they are a boring, docile fan base for the most part

teeth will be few and far between

Please, tell the one again how Tiger Stadium is one of the, now what was that again? Oh yes, one of "the most storied venues in college football".

Our fan base is so docile they remain in the stadium all four quarters. Unlike some fan base I could name...

Non-docile fan base???

Die hards

That storied venue sure keeps them in their seats, huh?

"Sounds like you've never been to campus"

I'm always amazed how clueless some Auburn fans are about Tuscaloosa and the area around campus. The 13th and 12th street areas south and west of campus that they like to claim are bad were/are some of the most fun areas to live near campus. The "bad" areas of Tuscaloosa aren't anywhere close to campus.

"hellhole"

I've been to the Auburn area many times and the North River Yacht Club/Northport/Lake Tuscaloosa area of Tuscaloosa s###s on any of the nicer areas in Auburn.

I was mainly talking about South of Bryant Dr and West of BDS. I was amazed how the city has allowed that area to deteriorate over the last 10 years. A lot of that area was effected by the tornado, but the city missed their chance for some urban renewal.

You've got to go a bit further than 2 blocks to get to that area. Nothing is even close to bad until you past 15th St.

A couple blocks away from the Stadium is still within the campus. Please don't tell me you're trying to go "there."

If you want to claim that as part of campus, than Auburn is on Lake Martin

5 to 10 blocks, depending on which street you go down.
