1. Greek life is very small at TAMU compared to other Universities.
2. Yes, Corps and Greek do not get along at all, although some Corps members are also members of frats, although they take some **** for it.
Let me explain a couple of things that I've been saying I haven't been clear.
1. Yell Leader is a student elected position, every person runs individually.
2. Corps Block (also known as 5 for Yell) are five individuals that are picked every year (the two juniors from the previous year pick the three new members for that year, two jrs and one sr) so while they are running individually, they also run as a group. Since they have the backing of the entire Corps vote, they are extremely difficult to beat and you have to be an extremely popular student with the rest of the student body to win.

Yes I'd say so

It's our school. You don't have to like it
And the the poster that asked about disdain for the corps I would say yes amongst the Greeks more than the GDIs. But overall most Ags are proud of the corps and it's history.
They can manage to give Tigerdroppings plenty of ammo though

Because most students don't vote. The corps is only about 5% of the student population

Very true, so it comes down to numbers, and the Corps is about 2,000 people, which is a lot in the student elections.

Why does aTm try its hardest to be a military school?
You can get a much better education at West Point and actually be in the real military there.
Its like a college full of toy army men down in college station.

This certainly seems true given that we made it not a military school like 40 years ago

I'm not certain if your reply is serious or in gest.
I just don't get the uniforms for non military members of society. I don't get the idea of such prejudices at aTm by only having male cheerleaders.
Looking at aTm, how they act, what they wear, how they present themselves overall, is like going back to the 1950's. No black yell leaders, no women. All white uniforms on said leaders. Military uniform band, that has no ties to the United States armed forces what so ever. Aggie students in uniforms at games, who are not students at a military school.

It was in gest. It's called being a senior military college, we aren't the only one. They make up a small part of the student body.

It's a pretty simple answer.
TAMU is a Senior Military College (although unique because of the size of it's non-Corps student body) one of only six in the United States. The Corps is our connection to our military past, and something that we recognize as valuable, and the Corps really are the "keepers of the Spirit."
We do not have male cheerleaders, we have no cheerleaders. Yell Leaders are very different from cheerleaders in what they do, how they interact with the crowd, how they are chosen, etc.
We've had black yell leaders before.
The uniform being all white has to do with the origin story of the Yell Leader, it has no connection to race.
The Aggie Band is awesome. I would rather watch the Aggie Band every time at halftime then some band making circles playing Lady Gaga songs and dancing. I don't know of any Aggie who has an issue with the Aggie Band.
The Corps members wearing uniforms to the game are fairly new, there used to not be a Corps block seating up until the mid-90s I believe, so it's by comparison a new thing.
They have a great connection to the United States military. Every Corps member goes through military training with ROTC for a minimum of two years, advisors are former military members, and many Corps members sign their contract their junior year and go on to serve for many years, including a former Corps member being on the Joint Chiefs. Seven Aggies have won the MOH, I mean the military connections are extensive because they are a Senior Military College.

But, why do you care what we do?
And we've had black yell leaders. To be honest, black guys just haven't ran that often

Also, TAMU Corps Members often go through specialized training during the Corps career for specialized military groups like the Army Rangers and Navy Seals, as well as receive flight training if they qualify.
The Corps of Cadets is also home of the Fish Drill Team, who win the National Championship (including against the service academies) more often than not, and the Ross Volunteers, who are the honor guard for the Governor of Texas.

Regular people also go to the Rangers and Seals.
It still doesn't explain why a public university section of students plays dress up to look like something/someone they envy at West Point.

I get you're from Arkansas, but I really don't know how to better explain this to you.
A&M used to be a military academy, they become public in the 60's, but retained their Senior Military College designation as it's an important part of the University.

1. Back to the article, it's not a "privilege reserved for males". It's an election fricktard. (author)
2. It's debatable that you get a better education at West Point. Most of them are "socially retarded" when they graduate (quote from more than a couple of senior field grades who taught there) and have significant difficulty interacting with those not in uniform.
3. As stated earlier, Title 10, section 2111a(f) designates A&M as one of six senior military colleges. Virginia Tech is the other major university with a full time Corps of Cadets.

A&M cadet uniforms resemble WWII Army Uniforms, not that gay gray shite they wear at the Baylor of the Hudson.

That gay grey shite u refer to are worn by actual members of our military. Show them some respect. If not for them, Aggies wouldn't have the freedom they have today.
I can tell by most of you alls posts there is a slight jealousy of the real military men and women of West Point. Although the name calling by you guys is surprising.
I suppose aTm students are the ones who couldn't qualify to get in to Texas, and too scared to try to get in @ West Point.

I'm telling y'all. We'll rue the day we invited this freak show to the SEC. Rue it. Having grown up with the SWC and the Aggies they are every bit the entitled Texas titty babies as their mortal enemies in Austin.
