We knew right away we'd go after Sumlin when Sherman was canned.
Sherman was hired just days after Fran was fired.
Fran was hired quickly after RC was let go.
It's a lock the admin already knows who they are going after.

One coach isn't going to turn A&M around. They've got to get the NIL thing under control. They have to get their own expectations under control.
As great as the tradition was at Alabama, one of Saban's first tasks was to get the boosters under control. Whomever walks into the A&M job has a similar row to hoe. Plus they've got to completely overhaul the roster following the A&M "let's buy a team" debacle.
Aggies, things will have to get worse before they get better. Do you have the patience ?

Texas A&M feels they already have the talent to win. So their expectations are not going to change. Their strategy for hiring the best coach might.

Don't want a whale. Hear that there may be a search firm, which would be a real first for A&M. We will see.
