Crazy that Alabama has never made it with some of the talent they've had.

They've only made the Elite Eight once.

Yep, and also have the 3rd most overall wins in the entire conference. Prior to last year, we were #2 behind only Kentucky. Arkansas overtook that #2 spot last year and currently has a few more overall wins.

Vanderbilt- 1
Tennessee- 1
Alabama- 1
Auburn- 1
Ole Miss- 0
South Carolina- 0
Texas A&M- 0

That's the list that chaps my arse the most. 0-5 when playing for a spot in the final four

I'm a Cards fan myself (Dad grew up in Memphis) and while St. Louis is easily the best pro baseball town in America, I still have a hard time believing "the" baseball state isn't Cali.

Not to derail the thread.

Missouri is pound for pound the best baseball state in the union.

negative. big time negative.

Can't base having 2 currently successful mlb teams in your state as your argument. Pro teams mean little when it comes to what your state produces sports wise.

As much as I hate Oklahoma, I'd have to say that state's contribution to baseball is hard to top for a small state.

Johnny Bench
Mickey Mantle
Warren Spahn (settled in Oklahoma and ran a large cattle ranch)
Carl Hubbell
Joe Carter
Bobby Cox
Paul Waner (HOFr)
Lloyd Waner (HOFr)
Bullet Joe Rogan (HOFr)
Joe McGinnity (HOFr)
Allie Reynolds
Matt Holliday
Matt Kemp
Willie Stargell
Mickey Tettleton
Johnny Ray
Indian Bob Johnson
Pepper Martin
Jim Brewer

Current AL Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel

and so on, there's a string of high draft picks in the minors too w/ Oklahoma roots.

There have been a lot of mlb players come from Missouri connections but the level of their talent and play doesn't meet what Oklahoma has put out.

Missouri's best homegrown HOF'rs are probably Casey Stengell and Yogi Berra. The Cardinals are legendary and the Royals have had their eras and great players but Missouri just doesn't produce elite players like Oklahoma.
