Yep, the semi-pro league is evolving as expected. There will always be other factors like playing time/competition, facilities, championship potential, etc. but at some point with most of those factors pretty equal it would boil down to players going to the highest bidder. Teams like Tennessee have no choice but to pay more since their in-state recruiting is insufficient. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Shut the frick up you ignorant twat. A buddy of mine bought a new car with all the extra money from his scholarship, another friend was paid to go to UTK on academic scholarship. It's not semi pro YET

Can't beat em, buy em.

This will definitely be interesting to monitor. How many of these schools actually operate in the black?

Receive State assistance?

Vols have the poorest athletic department in conference, how are they affording this?

Oh nevermind, thanks to Bama for the SEC network/money.

thatthang Fifteen colleges to offer $4k or more in extra scholarship aid Anyone know about how many scholarship athletes are at a typical SEC school? Should be about the same across the conference. Curious about the cost implications of this.

To my knowledge State has never maintained a school-sanctioned swim team, gymnastics team or equestrian team.

I will say cost of living in CS is dirt cheap though.

That was my first thought, but then: Starkville? Lubbock?

Most likely there are other factors involved that we don't know (like A&M athletes get more to start with). At least I hope so.

It's an unbelievably stupid formula for figuring out the dollar amount.
Boston College athletes were calculated to get around $1,900 per year while AU and UT are at 5k?????? It cost about 70k a year to attend BC plus you're living in a very expensive city. Not sure exactly how it works but it has something to do with how FAR you're away from large metropolitan areas.
