Shut the frick up you ignorant twat. A buddy of mine bought a new car with all the extra money from his scholarship, another friend was paid to go to UTK on academic scholarship. It's not semi pro YET

To my knowledge State has never maintained a school-sanctioned swim team, gymnastics team or equestrian team.

It's an unbelievably stupid formula for figuring out the dollar amount.
Boston College athletes were calculated to get around $1,900 per year while AU and UT are at 5k?????? It cost about 70k a year to attend BC plus you're living in a very expensive city. Not sure exactly how it works but it has something to do with how FAR you're away from large metropolitan areas.
