Go to Lucky Luke's for BBQ...sure Penguin Ed's is the old standby but my good friends at Luke's have better BBQ.

Where are you staying? My recs will depend on where you are. You could do a whole trip up to the Bentonville area if you get stuck up there, Crystal Bridges, foodie scene, etc.
If you want to experience the "real" Fayetteville, just come down to Dickson for the whole day Saturday. Go eat lunch at Does, post up and watch football at Ferrell's (if you can get a table. Drink, hang out with the good hog fans all day, then walk from Dickson through the campus to the stadium. Game will be over at 10 ish, head back to one of the bars and drink away your sorrows/ revel in victory.

Fayetteville doesn't really have a ghetto. One cul de sac on the west side is mainly it.
Food I'd recommend in order:
Vetro (Italian, square)
Doe's (dickson)
WoodStone Pizza (mill dist, southside)
Hugo's (burgers, american, Block st off square)
Herman's (bbq, N. College Ave)
Whole Hog Cafe (bbq N. College Ave)
Farrell's (dickson, sports gastropub)
San Lio (upscale chinese, dickson)
Wasabi (japanese, dickson)
For classy drinking spots:
Theo's (dickson, campbell st)
Bordino's (dickson)
Cork & keg (dickson, west ave)
Fresco (square, center st, also good light italian fare, usually has a jazz quartet)
Dives:
Kingfish
Roger's Rec (dickson)
George's (dickson, might be live music and a cover)
Mickey's (dickson)
Hipsters:
Smoke & Barrell (dickson area)
Maxine's (block st)
Big Star Lounge (block)
teh Gheys:
Club Push (block st)
C4 (off Dickson, near Cork & Keg off West Ave)
Seriously, those are the full-on gay bars downtown. Common Grounds and Liquid Lounge trend gay, but are more mixed.
Most of the rest of the bars I didn't list are collegey, fratty, or douchey.

The holler? Is that still around?

The Holler is surrounded by too much gentrified and high-priced real estate. It's about three streets and is mostly white now.
I was referring to Betty Jo.
I wouldn't stroll in Walker Park after dark, but mainly because of the homeless shelter nearby, and the fact that our homeless are prone to violence.

Yeah, if you are staying in Bentonville, they have their own food scene and cool town square and more money than us. It's a decent second option.

By Jefferson behind the Courthouse?

I am staying in Fayetteville. We booked our room in July. We saw there was a Doe's there.. I am from Memphis and currently live here. I have family in Greenville, Ms though and this a great steak joint. Very unique. I had no idea there were multiple joints. Might have to try it out!
ETA: I want to see what the Walton family money has done for you guys. What do I need to see?

The smart play is to just go downtown, park somewhere on Dickson or Block St and walk around.
Block St connects the square to Dickson and you have bars and restaurants around for several blocks. It is a safe area at night apart from bar fights. No worries.
There's a parking garage at Spring & School, a few municipal lots and its $5 max for an all day parking spot. Parking is free until 2pm.

That is the smart play probably. Hasnt Lioneld and crew changed the parking again? I heard they are not having business provide parking on square and Dickson now.

Our Fayetteville performing arts center is under construction/renovation so it is a mess.
You will probably notice some bike trails and lots of people cycling, depending on the weather. The Waltons have heavily invested into that in the region.
If you're willing to drive to Bentonville, Crystal Bridges Museum is truly world class. No exaggerations. And it is totally free and open to the public.
You can stand next to multiple artworks that are each valued at over $50 million, if that's your thing. Some iconic pieces there, and totally worth the 30 minute drive.

That is all over the city, actually. Parking is being curbed in the city, or at least left to the business owner's discretion.

I haven't been down by square in a month so just heard about it. I was planning on taking the fam to a game at BWA soon and dinner at Hugo's or Herman's.
Hugo's Herman's and Pesto are best places in town to me. Doe's I have had too much of and I eat too many tamales to enjoy steak, plus I'm not big on red potatoes.

Since you're in Little Rock a lot, there's also a Doe's here. Probably the most famous location, because Clinton's staff hung out there in '92.

Crystal Bridges is endowed to the tune of $800 million. It was designed by Moshe Safdie. You will see artworks there that you have heard of and seen before. They just recently opened a relocated FLW house there, too. The grounds themselves are worth the trip. The museum is fantastic.

One more thing, the annual Lights of the Ozarks, our little town square lighting, is Friday night. It's beautiful and will provide some good Instagram opportunities for the women.

One more more thing....And this is the Fayetteville money shot. Mount Sequoyah overlook on Assembly drive.
If you want to be a truly bad-arse tour guide for your party, find this. It is maybe 3 minutes from the downtown square:
This is a decent secondary option, but lower in elevation, not far from the first pic.
