I like Mizzou's limestone buildings. Arkansas has a lot of that, too. It just looks collegiate to me.

That modern LSU building actually looks pretty bad-arse.

There is some really killer modern architecture out there right now, but also a lot of crap.

I like modern styles when they are well-executed. I also have a want for glassy, levitating-looking buildings.

The new Alex Box Stadium is supposedly noveau/avante garde.
Thank Gawd they filled in the grandstand spaces with box suites - it looks much better now, plus gives us a capacity of over 12k.

To give you an idea of the renovation taking place, this is the building as it looks today:

That will be a great improvement.

The existing building is a half-assed brutalist rendition.

There are too many of those on college campuses for some reason.

Its kind of reminds me of the Garland Ave garage at Arkansas, which is lined with retail:

Most big universities have at least some forward-thinking buildings. Not all modern architecture is bad.

CEBA was my home for several years (I did both undergrad and grad school classes in that building). It looks awful. The only redeeming quality is that it is well air conditioned and has ample parking relative to much of campus. Very little shade on that side of campus. I can recall the concrete on Nicholson Extension buckling more than once on hot summer days.

One of my favorites is the long forgotten Huey P. Long Swimming Pool.

Wish they would invest renovating/re-opening it – always heard great memories from the old ones

Coolest building on campus. There's alot of cool things about our campus. The underground tunnels tell all..

I wish we had an outdoor pool. That'd be so clutch...

They added an outdoor pool (complete with water slide and lazy river) when they built our new rec center a few years ago. Pretty cool.

It really is. They have already outgrown it and it is just a few years old. Did you know they are already about to start on a new one where Rose Towers use to be? Here is a pic.

Hopefully they clear the trees behind where rose was so the new rec center has good view of the river. It would be nice for the university to have a presence on river road too.

Already starting to with all the new dorms, rec, etc. The Manderson Landing Park is also UA property I believe that runs into the Tuscaloosa River Walk.

Looks like the entrance to one of those movie megaplexes.

I hate the Gumps, but the exterior of BDS is classy, whereas Tennessee's is garish and tacky and LSU's is just plain ugly.

I kept hoping that the exterior renovations of Tiger Stadium would be similar to BDS; instead they slapped up some big-arse lighted letters that look like they belong on a Toys R Us store. The iron gates are a big improvement over that cheap-looking chain link fence we used to have, but the Scotty Moran plaza is downright embarrassing.
