Dareus was considered a top 5 pick based on performance before the NC game by both Kiper and McShay.

Fairley plays the glamor position in the same scheme Warren Sapp did under Monte Kiffin(Chizik was one of the 1st college coaches to successfully adapt the Tampa 2 to the college game).

Dareus plays a position that is 2nd fiddle to the LBs, 3 sacks a season is the norm for a DE. He's suppose to take on blockers and create a push so LBs can make the play, not rack up sacks( opposed to Fairley, whose job is to penetrate the C-G gap).

If you don't think Dareus performed well as a 3-4 DE, you don't know football...

You may be surprised but I am not the only one that thinks Dareus did not "earn" a top 5 pick by his play. He may get it on his physical ability and what he could do in the NFL. And I do understand the difference between he 3/4 an 4/3.

I have to give it to ya, you put a lot of effort into your trolling. Dont think I would ever spend 3 paragraphs on an obvious troll thread.

I'm not surprised, but you are also the minority.

Apparently not based on your first sentence...

I guess that makes you not interested in this stuff, even though you bothered to respond to my thread anyway?

The thread is about Dareus. I posted a video about Dareus. Pretty straightforward stuff really.

Who's mad? I love when people say this after they're obviously trying to instigate an argument. I just said don't bother responding to my topic if you don't care to read it. Pretty straightforward stuff really.

Dareus missed a couple of games early because, surprise surprise, Alabama reports violations unlike some teams we know.

He also had a bad ankle that slowed him. He played well vs Auburn and wiped the floor with Michigan State.

Dareus is bigger.Am I wrong or didn't he run faster than Fairley at the Combine.I also think that even though Dareus was slowed my nagging injuries,he gave Bama a couple of great years at DT.

Fairley played lights out this Season. Most dominant Defensive Lineman in the Nation. He put up one great year where Dareus played three pretty respectable years.

Dareus takes entire drives off, drove all the bama fans I know nuts.

He may end up getting drafted higher, but Fairley will be the better pro.

they are both very talented, physically gifted players..

so are most of the elite cfb players who project and are drafted in the 1st or 2nd round.

what sets the greats, the goods and the busts apart is their work ethic and their want (thanks, les!) to excell at the pro level. no matter their talent, if these guys don't want to sweat blood and bullets physically and to use their brains to study and learn the pro game, they are at best going to be middle of the road...at worst, busts.

who knows how dedicated either of these guys are going to be...

The real question should be, Will Dareus be a better pro than Andre Smith and his man boobs?
