Oh yeah, LSU technically finished 4th in the west last year. You tied Arkansas, but they would win the tie breaker since they beat you head to head

Technically, there is no tiebreaker.

So LSU's defense was so bad all LSU's fans are glad to see Steele leave, yet you are now bragging about how many players you return off that defense.

Arden Key is the only defensive lineman on LSU's team who has a realistic chance of being drafted in the top 2 or 3 rounds. Watch the NFL draft over the next couple of years and see for yourself

LSU had talent on defense last season. That's why it was so frustrating. Now, our defense certainly wasn't terrible, but the coverage busts in the secondary were the biggest problem. We actually saw improvement on the defensive line. A lot more stunts and a lot more pressure on opposing quarterbacks. We still weren't THAT great on 3rd downs, though. We need to improve there.

Jones and Beckwith are both very talented players. We lose Jones, and hopefully keep Beckwith. Again, I think LSU will have pretty solid talent on defense, but even more depth. The depth will be the most important.

But yes, thanks for taking Steele off our hands. Have fun with that.

Aranda gave up 31 points to Auburn in last years Outback Bowl

35 points to bama in the regular season this year

59 points against Ohio State in last years Big 10 championship game

His reputation as a great coach was largely built on shutting down teams like Minnesotta and Illinois. You can have fun with that

With a bunch of slow, white, 2 and 3 star players.

You are pretty clueless. Sorry we flipped our shitty D-coordinator for a great up-and-coming one. And you guys got stuck with Steele

Reports are that he is leaning towards returning.

Obviously, he is probably the guy we need back the most. More so than White or Neal. But, in the end, one guy doesn't make a defense.

The idea that LSU is stacked with talent everywhere really isn't true. Fournette's heisman hopes went up in flames because the offensive line struggled late in the season. Now you have to replace both tackles. It remains to be seen if Harris or any other quarterback can become anything more than mediocre. The talent on the defensive line and linebacker really isn't elite either

Quit pretending that you know what you're talking about.

Again, it's doubtful LSU plays a ton of 3-4 to start the season, unless Aranda is really comfortable with Beckwith, Riley, Key, and Neal (and what we have behind them) at that position.

I love how people pretend to know what they're talking about.

Which goes back to what kind of depth do you have a linebacker?

And Key is small as frick.

LSU's talent level is so elite that it doesn't matter who the DC is. Unless that DC struggles, then it's because the previous guy left him no talent. Until the next DC comes in, and LSU has elite talent again.

LSU football is a Moebius strip.

I've answered this question already.

Beckwith (pending), Riley, then Neal can play OLB. Divinity is an early-enrollee, but it remains to be seen the impact he will have.

LSU will probably play a lot of 4-3 next season.

It wasn't a talent issue this past year. Rarely is on that side of the ball. 2013 was the only year where the talent was questionable (the year after we got raped by the draft).

Chavis didn't recruit for shite. So he really had nothing to do with how much talent LSU had on that side of the ball this year.

LSU had the 25th best defense in football this season, but was like 60-70th in passing defense. Again, constant coverage busts, and inability to get off the field on 3rd down passing situations was what plagued LSU this season. Lots of confusion on assignments, and Steele caught a lot of the heat for that.

Liked what we saw out of the defensive line, though, which is why it was so important to keep Orgeron (for his recruiting abilities as well).

Ha make him so great? A top ten defense in the crappiest conference in the big 5? He may be a great DC but we've seen this song and dance from LSU fans on this board before.

Arden Key is 6'6 230, for from small as frick and will come in heavier.
Donnie Alexander OLB. Don't try to debate with these fricking morons on here. No matter what positives you try to point out these know it all jackasses will spin it their way. It's useless!

Point fricking is we return some 17 starters and will have the number 1 recruiting class and brought in one of the young and up coming DC's in college football so kiss my fricking arse!!

considering LSU's lowest point total in conference was 14 last year, tigers have a couple more points to play with.

Aranda might not be the best DC in the SEC but he is definitely better than most and a major upgrade from the previous one.
