You're just an incredible douche bag.

I agree Oxford is a better town, but it is littered with frat swoop douche bags all trying to one up each other and acting as if daddy has so much pull and knows so many people like a bunch of bitches. Starkville isn't the best town, but I wouldn't let a town factor in to what college I choose to attend.

Ha I know, I don't really understand why people get offended when they aren't included. My high school friends from East Tennessee used to get furious when I was say that the Tri-Cities weren't the South, they were Appalachia. Who cares? You are what ya are. It isn't like being Southern is some sort of magical badge of honor nationally, more the opposite.

East Tennessee, West Carolina, NE Georgia. I wouldn't consider Deep South, but are very Southern. Just a different part of the South, a more beautiful part.

I swear I see more Confederate flags in states that were not part of the Confederacy than I ever do in Alabama or Georgia. Quite frankly, I could count the number of times I saw a rebel flag sticker on car on one hand in the last 2-3 years in trips between Tuscaloosa/Birmingham and Atlanta.

I could not tell you the last time I saw a confederate flag in Birmingham.

I know, right? I guess they were supposed to leave Vanderbilt off because it doesn't have the misfortune to be located in an off the beaten path, hole in the wall town, with nothing to offer other than the school.

Exactly why it's called a college town and not city with a college in it.

"The old saying “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” couldn’t be more true when it comes to ranking college towns.

Do you prefer larger metropolitan areas? Do you enjoy the isolated peace and quiet of a quaint small town? Cost of living, night life, food, culture, weather, surrounding geography and more go into evaluating a city.

Every college campus is unique and each one brings something different to the table.

When evaluating a bigger city like Nashville against a small town like Starkville or the culture of Gainesville with the Midwest tempo of Columbia, Mo., personal opinions will vary greatly. So we had some fun asking 12 SEC experts to rank their favorite SEC locations and here is what we learned:

I was about to read through this thread about to click the right arrow to page 2 until I realized it ended at 22.

Athens is best

Nashville could shite out Vandy and still be a great city. It's like saying Tulane is the best college town ever.

tside of Mississippi. Starkville exemplifies life within Mississippi. Also it's not about having the same amenities. It's about the quality of those amenities. Oxford is the only place in Mississippi where an intelligent cultured person can escape the uneducated redneck peasants that make Mississippi a horrible place to live.

Relax...Disqualifying Nashville still only ranks you 13th out of 13.

Born and raised in Kingsport my first 18 years of life before I headed off to UT and then to the coast.

I could NEVER have stayed one more minute there.

I loved growing up there, but man if it isn't a arse backwards place.

This panel of experts, 6 out of 11 either went to UT or live in Tennessee. A little bit o' bias maybe...

Tuscaloosa is getting better and has a lot of things going for it
1) Great BBQ
2) Above average bar scene with breweries(all reasonable walking distance from campus)
3) River and nice swimming lakes
4) Amphitheater that brings in solid acts
5) Very nice Farmer's Market and Riverwalk
