Yeah, we're not the Big East. Southern schools only.

Just saying, UCONN would be a "new" market area. Would bring some academic clout, and Men's and Women's Basketball are both solid.

Outside of the name schools, this would be an "outside the box" type move

I'm sure they are pretty strong, but the ACC isn't going to want to spend a shite ton of money defending them. All this does is force the school who wants to leave to pay the conference for their media rights. Its a brilliant move by the conference, but all it does it raise the exit fee for the school.

uh, yes they will want to fight it.

If a school tries to leave and the ACC doesn't fight in court its game over for them as a major conference.

Also, ESPN is going to give them a TV network as an extra defense against the Big Ten poaching schools. Just wait.

ESPN is not going to want to lose the most valuable properties in a conference they own lock stock and barrel.

No rebuttal? If we're giving Missouri a one year time frame of their contributions to the conference, what did Auburn do?

Auburn helped create the SEC is what Auburn did which therefore excludes them from such questioning (also the 2010 NC buys us some time)

Im hopeful that Mizzou will bounce back in all sports this year but I admit to being disappointed about their Basketball performace as I was looking forward to an SEC school not names Kentucky or Florida stepping up in that area

This would sell a lot easier if it was preceded by "kick out Missouri and add" (insert school).

East Carolina? No directional schools. if they aren't even in the Top 3 or so in their state, no SEC

its about football yes.

but it aint about powerhouses.

its about markets football fans can bring.

otherwise Rutgers would still be in the Big East/American, Maryland would still be in the ACC, and Mizzou would still be in the Big 12.

Exactly!!

I think most of you are looking at it wrong...we ALREADY have the sports product!!! The SEC brand is THE best collegiate athletic conference....

Now, we have to find out where we want to sell it! That's why we added Missouri!!!!!

North Carolina and Virginia are good states to put the SEC network, but they are cut off to us now due to the ACC....the ONLY available option is now East Carolina, and they fit better in the SEC than most people realize...

The other option, assuming we expand NOW, is Cincinnati....they are kind of an odd fit, but they push us into Ohio and Big 10 markets...

the only other options are:

2) wait for the Big 12 land grant stuff to run out (5 years???)and try and add either OU and Okie State or Kansas and K-State, or possibly West Virginia and someone

3) add New Mexico and Colorado State

4) wait for forever for the ACC land grant stuff to run out

5) stick at 14

THATS IT really...nothing else really makes sense...
