You guys just don’t get it.

Chavis is a great defensive coordinator, mainly when he has great talent in the secondary. However, on the biggest stages at the biggest moments, his 2 minute drill Mustang defense will let you down. It won’t happen all the time and certainly not against teams as feeble and decimated as Arkansas.

Also, LSU fans didn’t coin the term “3rd and Chavis”. Tennessee fans did. We were staunch defenders of Chief until a trend started where it seemed we lost 1 or 2 games Every. Damn. Year. due to his inability to adapt to the 2 minute drill offense.

He had a good 3rd down defense at LSU too because a vast majority of 3rd downs aren’t in the last 2 minutes against your toughest opponents. Like I said, he’s a great defensive coordinator. You got yourselves a big upgrade. But just wait for the let downs. They will come, as sure as the tax man and grim reaper.

Its also not just on 3rd down. We would allow 10 yard out routes on 1st and 2nd down as gifts to opponents at the end of games. We would have 3 down lineman playing contain leaving massive holes for running backs to break off 8 a clip. They would drive down the field methodically in what seemed like seconds.

If you didn't have an insanely talented DE in Garrett causing that fumble, Arkansas would've kept driving on you too. They were breaking off 10 yard runs on you before that.

The LSU fans are upset. And they don't care who knows.

A+ melt. Would like to point out that the OP did not refer to LSU at all.

That Chavis D gave up 500yrds and had to go to overtime to beat a team that got stomped by Toledo.

frickING TOLEDO.

A&M gave up 4 more points than LSU did last year to Arkansas, and unlike LSU last year, we managed to outscore Arkansas.

Love me some Chavis

Its not a melt. I would have preferred to keep Chavis for continuity and consistency, yes. My world didn't come tumbling down when he left, no. We will be fine on defense with our current staff. Chavis is a great defensive coordinator and an upgrade for Aggy, no doubt.

I was just explaining why "3rd and Chavis", as broken down with stats in the OP, isn't something that is apparent from overall stats. LSU, with Chavis (which is why he made the post), had good overall 3rd down defense.

Also, it is worth noting, because it is relevant to the OP, that 3rd and Chavis is something that was around well before his LSU stint.

Why do you all have to act like children pointing fingers? Why can't you just read my post as an examination of the OP and not some immature blame game cock measuring contest?

Since "3rd and Chavis" originated at Tennessee...we are claiming it for our own and changing it to "4th and Jancick".

When an aggie speaks of chavis on here the point is an attempt to troll LSU fans, case closed
