FWIW, Alabama has one of the largest college football TV markets/viewership in the US

This.

Love 'em or hate 'em, both Alabama and Auburn have huge fan bases and put quality products on the field without having to compete with non-conference schools of the same caliber OR a professional football team.

It's a formula for a state pretty dedicated to watching college football every Saturday. Didn't one chart show back in 2010 or 2011 that 81% of Birmingham residents watched college football on Saturdays, obliterating the next largest %?

The ultimate and crushing irony of the Longhorn Network for Texas fans? It's going to end up making more money for hated rival Texas A&M than it is for Texas.

I believe it was Travis that proclaimed SECN would bring in 50mil+/yr per team. Looks like he and many others were a bit off.

I don't think he ever claimed that. He speculated that the subscriber fees would start off around $1.00/subscriber and possibly increase to $2 and $3 in the coming years (like Big 10 and PAC 12 currently cost), doubling and tripling the revenue.

SECN is starting out at $1.30/subscriber, so it will be more successful at launch than he originally thought.

No one ever said that.

What most educated SEC fans were saying is that, along with the SEC Network, when combined with other revenue, each school will eventually be looking at $50 million.

Now, $40 million appears to be about to happen right out of the chute.

right off the bat, it might be closer to 50 million than 40 after everything is added up, but have to agree w/ scrooster on this one,, the ole mutha clucka is basically right...

before long we'll be looking at 50mm in the rearview mirror.
