PS replying 1.6 ypc doesn't change anything

We don't have to reply with that. We all saw what happened that night.

but NFL holes are smaller and it takes quicker acceleration to get thru them.

Want to know how I know you didn't read the OP

"Derrick Henry had the fastest time of any player in any position that we've tested in the last 3 drafts."

It's funny you say this because it's pretty clear you're the one that didn't read the OP.

quote:

That doesn't mean he has better acceleration than other players. It means he's able to run through tackles without being slowed down much, and anyone arguing he struggled with that is just plain wrong. He was one of the best I've ever seen at running through arm tackles. It seemed like they didn't even slow him down, which this shows was actually true.

ETA: It also explains why he seemed to explode through the 2nd level. Those poor players in the secondary were trying to tackle a freak with a full head of steam and, more often than not, it didn't end well for them.

Bama fans who don't actually understand what they are saying can downvote freely.

I did. His straight line speed can't be denied. When he squares his shoulders and goes he's as explosive a RB as there is. I expected him to run around 4.4 40.

That doesn't mean he hits the hole faster than other RBs, which is what the previous poster said. In fact, in the video it talks about Elliots ability to hit the hole being on par with Adrian Peterson's because of his quickness in and out of cuts.

Backs in the NFL are rarely able to hit holes without making a cut, and that's Henry's biggest weakness. I will admit that I was wrong about him before. I said he wasn't going to be very good in the NFL, but I think I was wrong. While doesn't have the elite lateral quickness that most of the top backs have, but he has a unique combination of acceleration and power when his shoulders are square and he can go downhill.

ETA: What doesn't make sense to me is they say he had the fastest time over 5 yards in their lab, but at the end of the video when they superimpose Henry, Elliot and Bell all running the 40 Elliot and Bell are both quicker over the first 5 yards, and it really wasn't close.

Your combination of math and homoerotic pictures has convinced me. Henry is the greatest running back in the history of the game.

Sports Science made another Bama bum ( Trent Richardson) seem like a cross between Emmitt Smith and Todd Gurley.

Physically, it was probably close. It doesn't really matter if you're the love child of Barry Sanders and Adrian Peterson when you have vision like Trich's though.

Henry deserved the Heisman. Only people that hate Alabama would say otherwise.

Our OL was pretty meh this year compared to other years. Henry made them look better than they were on the frequent. Something like 75% of his yardage came after contact.

ETA: He averaged 102 yards per game after contact.

Man if football was played on a field 5 yards wide and lateral agility didn't matter he'd be great.

Drafting a Bama running back is like drafting a Florida QB under Spurrier-- sure they might be talented but they might also be a product of the system. Henry's probably worth a mid round pick though-- like a 4th or 5th rounder.

Take away Trent Richardson and bama running backs average after Glen Coffee have averaged over 4.3 yards per carry, about 5 yards per touch, have had 2 pro bowlers, and a rookie of the year

So we should expect Fournette to set the SEC season season rushing record and win the Heisman
