It's not a matter of simply paying him what he wants in salary. The gators have lot better facilities, over all athletic program, and can pay his assistant coaches a hell of a lot more money. Plus they are smack in the middle of one of the most fertile & biggest recruiting areas in the country.
This is exactly why UF will go for a proven head coach. No more screwing around with hiring a coach with no experience in managing a program like UF's. To hell with hiring a guy that's using those facilities and talent for on-the-job-training.

Yes, because he has proven he can hire good Defensive Coaches.

Other than the stadium itself, Ole Miss has the better facilities.

When it comes to stadiums/arenas, yes... Practice facilities ? That's debatable.

And Florida's stadium is big but not nice. It's actually one of the most uncomfortable stadiums I've been in. If VHS was to the level of our south EZ the whole way around, our stadium would be better too.

Nowhere near the recruiting base.

I am not sure why people think Florida would settle on Freeze when they can get much better.

Freeze to UF would be disappointing for me and many of the Gators fans I speak with in person. I'm concerned that he's still lightening in the bottle.

I think he should stay at OM and receive their worship. He'll have no pressure if he gets to 8 wins and bowls consistently (much like MSU and Arky).

Freeze will only leave Oxford in a pine box.

Oh wait, that was Tuberville

I do not think Freeze would do poorly at UF, he just doesn't seem like a guy poised to take a major program to big time glory.

Seems like a great fit for Ole Miss and their relatively modest expectations.

That depends on who's actually available. If there's no restrictions, give me Chip Kelly and turn that fast FL athletes loose.

It's too early for all this because you don't know who is available.

In my opinion, there's not a good name out there that I know of that really excites me. This is going to be interesting and why I think it's going to be a name no one expected. That will entail the SECR going idiotic with lol at UF but that's par for the course. I just don't see Sark, Mullen (thankfully), Kelly, Gruden, etc being options for whatever reason.

Gonna be interesting for sure, there's not a better job in the country though.

I don't see Chip Kelly leaving Philly after a playoff spot and then having his starter blown up this year and having to rely on Sanchize.

After that you've got...Brian Kelly? Coach Boom only without the street cred? Better hope there's no high-winds in Gainesville at practice!

(Too Soon?)

I think this is why I'm sort've hoping against hope that we can convince Miles to step into the 21st Century and make changes that develop younger quarterbacks more quickly. If we ever nosedived over several years and had to make a change...yikes...there's not many "up and comer" types on the scene these days.

Agreed. Hugh took over a successful and well-built program and is just riding the coattails of the previous staff.
