Christianity has nothing to do with sports
quote:You think a children's hospital add that from a catholic hospital that connects Jesus to Christmas offends any rational person?
It's asinine to then castigate a network for making a business decision that flies in the face of your belief structure. They are trying to provide a product for as wide an audience as possible. To do that you try not to exclude anyone by holding one set of people above any other.

The SEC Network should expect to draw the majority of its subscribers from affluent, dedicated, SEC fans. anti-Jesus people tend to be more leechy, they tend to want to feed off of others ... they don't pay for things like Jesus people do.
Atheists and agnostics are wealthier and pay more taxes than Christians. Recipients of welfare are FAAAAR more Christian than not as well. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Makes no apologies for being Catholic.
It was pretty well documented in the buildup for the Notre Dame game. Saban is going to hell for going in dry on the Domers.

A private corporation chose not to air an ad. Christians went up in arms. Who's sensitive, again?

I think Christians are more sensitive than atheists, but I find them both to be the most obnoxious and sensitive groups out there.

Well... the absence of the add seems to have brought the fury... why wouldn't the presence do the same?

Going to Hell to run a new circle named in his honor. "Processing" kids is so cruel even Satan couldn't imagine it.

I agree it shouldn't offend you, but it shouldn't offend you if they chose not to air it because of that. There is power in advertisement, and if a company chooses to be completely neutral, I don't think that should offend you.
It doesn't offend me. Ultimately they can do what they want and ultimately will.
But my opinion is freely expressed here: they are being petulant over this ad for a children's hospital that would have probably offended zero rational people.
But hey, now the hospital has more attention it could ever want from believers and nonbelievers alike so... who am I to complain?

I bought a LeBron jersey once upon a time, yes. That was the Cleveland days though.

No one is dismissing the devil worshipers, heathens, witches, et al., I'm just saying let them run their own ads on their own merits.
I agree, but if ESPN lets Christians air theirs, they gotta let the South Florida Gay Black Nazi Wiccans Bicker Jews for Christ, and every other fringe heathen people who are wrong and evil* air their advertisements. At least that's ESPN's stance.
If I'm ESPN, I say MONEY TALKS. You got money, we will sell you ad space. If the message is going to offend our viewers, we have discretion NOT air your message and you can take your money and your ad elsewhere.
